Mush Announce Debut LP '3D Routine', Stream "Eat the Etiquette"

Leeds lo-fi/guitar pop/post punk newcomers Mush have announced the release of their debut album '3D Routine'.

The record will be out on February 14th via Memphis Industries. Pre-order your copy here.

Following on from their ‘Induction Party E.P’, Leeds based Mush are circulating their own sonic mythology, blurring the lines between abstract surrealism, existentialism and social commentary. Like its predecessor ‘3D Routine’ is a sensory overload of clattering, hooky, guitar work. However, this time space emerges between the onslaughts and in this respite, room is found for new emotional depth. More expansive than ever before, ‘3D Routine’ manages to maintain the rawness of a classic debut but it’s experimentation and variety portray a band unlikely to rest on their ‘guitarband’ chops.

First single, ‘Eat the Etiquette,’ described by vocalist Dan Hyndman as a “a bit of a stream of consciousness type rant”, takes aim at the use of ‘common sense’ as societal weapon; the “sick laughing track of malicious intent” making a mockery of progressive ideas, while “manufactured sense” helps maintain the underlying and iniquitous structures of wealth and power. It’s out now in all the usual places.

“Fundamentally we identify as music fans as much as artists,” says Hyndman. “I write music that I want to hear for my own enjoyment. I’ve always admired people who can create visceral and inspiring art without carrying on as some transcendent being. Having your influences on your sleeve and being open is just an extension of that.”

Check out the album's tracklist and listen to "Eat the Etiquette" below.

3D Routine tracklisting:
01. Revising My Fee
02. Eat the Etiquette
03. Existential Dread
04. Coronation Chicken
05. Island Mentality
06. Fruits of the Happening
07. Hey Gammonhead!
08. 3D Routine
09. Gig Economy
10. Poverty Pornography
11. No Signal in the Paddock
12. Alternative Facts

Singer Joseph E. "There’s a statue of Alan Turing in a small park just off canal street in Manchester city centre. The statue has always struck me as odd, the face is quite childishly done and Turing seems to be offering his fruit to passers-by. People often sit with him and take pictures. The park is also regularly attended by the homeless community of Manchester. As visible a presence on the streets now as the statues of the great and famous.".

New Entry: Tourists Return With New Single "Align"

UK dream pop/indie/psych band Tourists have returned with their catchy new single "Align", their first in almost three years.

As needle-fine guitars duel through hives of retro-electronics, ‘Align’ sees the Torquay five piece announce their return with a darkly exhilarating rush of shoegaze-washed atmospherics and breathtaking pace. Ruminating on the concept of interpersonal manipulation and control, ‘Align’ arrives as something of a statement of intent from a band looking to cast off the shackles and take back control of their destiny.

Speaking about why ‘Align’ was the right track to re-introduce the world to Tourists, Tom Wilkinson of the band says: “[Align] follows the idea of somebody mastering their own inner spirit to command others. We feel this track really reflects our main musical influences – the deep-rooted post-punk element coupled with 80s synth/dark-pop. As we played it more it took on a life of its own, getting heavier with more dynamics, and a dramatic, driving ending.”

The song is taken from their debut album 'Under The Cold Light Of The Moon', which came out in May. Buy it here.

“We wanted to make sure the underlying melancholy of the track didn’t go unnoticed. It can be a little deceptive since the song could be described as quite upbeat. Anyway, we gave free rein to Vittoria, our video director to come up with whatever story she saw fit. I was so amazed at how she managed to construct such a deep narrative that packed the emotional punch of a full length movie into the space of a 3 minute 38 second song! Seminal UK post-punk band Wire have announced the release of their new studio album 'Mind Hive'.

The follow-up to their 2017’s Silver/Lead, and the band's seventeenth studio album, will be out on January 24 2020, through the band's own pinkflag label. Pre-order your copy here.

Since their inception Wire have maintained a reputation for creating music that stretches the rock form whilst simultaneously editing it down to its essence. With their gift for crafting songs that perfectly balance experimentation and accessibility, Wire were recently hailed by the Quietus as “one of the most consistent British bands of all time.” Yet Wire exhibit little inclination to look back or trade on past glories, rather they remain resolutely focused on producing music which is smart, vital and defiantly modern..

The band have also shared the album's lead single "Cactused", the first of Mind Hive’s pop moments. Newman’s vocal is wide eyed and wired, with Lewis’ smooth backing vocals thickening the plot. Simms’ effects-heavy guitar work creates a bright web of noise, with the song’s stop/start moments providing a series of precise energy bursts.

The  follow-up to 2018's debut Silver Dollar Moment, will be out via Heavenly Recordings on February 28th, and sees the 4-piece push their sonic horizon to its outer limits as astral travellers, hitching a ride on the melodic skyway to evade the space-time continuum through a sharp collection of progressive strato-pop symphonies. Soft Riot Announces New LP 'When Push Comes To Shove', Stream "Taking Off The Edge"

Glasgow-based synth pop/electronic/minimal/dark wave musician JJD aka Soft Riot has announced the release of his seventh studio album 'When Push Comes To Shove'.

The follow-up to 2018's The Outsider In The Mirrors, was recorded and mixed by JJD in sessions from June 2018 until May 2019 at Studio 75 and Studio Carillon in Glasgow. It will be out in November 11 through Possession Records. Get your copy here.

Resonating with references from all corners of the synthpop’s origins (DAF, Fad Gadget and John Foxx to name a few), Soft Riot’s latest release nonetheless manages to retain its own individual voice, melding and reinterpreting its antecedents with a personal twist and an impressive demonstration of synth-craft and programming. Following on from 2018’s The Outsider in the Mirrors, these ten tracks represent a change in themes and an evolution in production and sound.

The forthcoming single and album opener "Taking The Edge Off" sets out the Soft Riot manifesto, a propulsive future-synth tale of forging ever-forwards in an increasingly noisy world. "It's No Laughing Matter" is a hedonistic yet propulsive dance-floor slammer — shades of minimal synth and metallic Belgian new beat condense in side one closer "Fate’s Got A Bone To Pick With You" and the dizzying italo-matic muscle workout "Don’t Get Yourself Bent Out Of Shape" is the ultimate self-help smack down.

Check out the album's tracklist and listen to his new single "Taking Off The Edge", below.

When Push Comes To Shove Tracklist:
01. Taking Off The Edge
02. It's No Laughing Matter
03. The Lost Weekend
04. Fate's Got A Bone To Pick With You
05. By The Skin Of Your Teeth
06. Don't Get Yourself Bent Out Of Shape
07. Heads Turn Around
08. Your Work Is Never Done
