New Entry: Rip Room Release New Single "Dead When It Started"

San Francisco art punk band Rip Room have released their new single "Dead When It Started".

The song is taken from their upcoming debut full-length album 'Alight and Resound', which will be out on May 27 through Spartan Records. Pre-order your copy here.

Speaking about the song, Rip Room’s John Reed (guitar/vocals) shared:

"‘Dead When It Started’ is a good intro to Rip Room for the uninitiated: it's an indictment disguised as a dance song. If the height of human interaction is the sum of our institutions plus the current state of social media, then our ability to solve real problems quickly approaches zero. The system is rigged! And worse, our tools for communication are essentially games that demand our attention and little else (and if it's not clear, I count myself among the implicated here). Contrary to the lyrics, the tune is super fun! It's maybe the most accessible song on the record, which makes the disconnect from the lyrics a bit cheeky. I remember the main riff sort of materialized out of thin air, and aside from the proggy breaks, it's basic pop. That's Gracie [Malley] pounding on a car fender with a hammer before the outro, and there's a ton of the Bass Rhodes on this track which makes it extra beefy.”

Watch: FLOWVERS Drop Music Video For "Daylight"

Portsmouth, UK indie rock/indie pop/post punk band FLOWVERS have dropped the video for their latest single "Daylight".

The song is part of our current playlist and came out last month (April 21). Get it here.

Speaking about the new cut, the band explain: “‘Daylight’, our happy sad love child. The first recordings we have are just Stan, Henry, and Matisse playing in a rehearsal room when Connor was absent. To this day we still play it three or four times back-to-back when rehearsing because of the sheer buzz we feel off it.”

When playing it at our live shows it regularly marks a moment and listeners have seemed to really connect to it. Matisse sings about a certain someone who helped him through a time last year and he often will give his all when performing it. The only thing we would say is that we could’ve looped the track, proper Kurupt FM that would’ve been.”

Crack Cloud Announce New LP 'Tough Baby' Stream "Please Yourself"

Vancouver, BC punk/experimental band Crack Cloud have announced the release of their second full-length album 'Tough Baby'.

The 10-track album and follow-up to 2020's debut Pain Olympics, will be out on September 16 via Meat Machine. Pre-order your copy here.

Tough Baby is both a clarion call and a life-manual for the listener. Witness the opening track ‘Danny’s Message’, which has two key lines, seemingly recorded on a dictaphone. One is an entreaty: “I hope you guys can learn a lot from what I’m trying to tell you.” The other, a command: “Music is an excellent way to let your anger out, put it all on paper.” The voice is that of Danny Choy, the father of Zach. Danny was fatally diagnosed with Leukaemia at 29. Zach explains: “Before he passed, he left behind a wealth of poems, song transcriptions, carvings and audio journals for my family to remember him by.” Zach is now 29. Appropriately Danny’s influence, still “all-encompassing” twenty years later, launches Tough Baby.
