Watch: La Sécurité Premiere New Single/Video "Try Again"

Montreal art punk/post punk supergroup La Sécurité (members of Choses Sauvages, Laurence-Anne, Jesuslesfilles, Silver Dapple, DATES and Pressure Pin) have premiered their new single "Try Again", alongside an accompanying music video.

Cute, yet deadly mushrooms, weird multidimensional plumbing pipes and multicolored flying turtles are just some of the elements that inspired the cryptic post-punk groover “Try Again”. The song is out today, May 31via Mothland, get it here.

While cowbells and woodblocks dance in and out of its unique angular beat, repetitive riffs and catchy synthesizer lines ensure that listeners are hypnotized, ultimately taken into an easter egg-ridden 2D metaphysical labyrinth where psychedelic musical bliss awaits.

Recorded and mixed alongside Samuel Gemme at Gamma Recording Studio (Corridor, Anemone, Population II), this introductory effort from these Montrealers is sure to please fans of Devo, E.S.G., Gang of Four and Le Tigre.

New Entry: The Interests Unveil New Single "Feel The Disparity"

South London indie rock band The Interests have unveiled their new single "Feel The Disparity".

Following on from their last two singles, “Attention” and “Capitulation”, the track features heavy riffs, brash guitar, bass that pumps through your speakers and aggressive drumming.

Despite being compared to bands such as The National, Deftones, Longpigs, the band still keep their British indie element with influence on this track coming from bands such as The Libertines, Catfish and The Bottlemen and Wolf Alice. For Mariscal, that meant making peace with himself after an especially painful breakup, learning that sometimes the end of relationships offer no easy answers.

Of the latest single single "Lost You," frontman Angel Mariscal says "This song is about facing the fear of love, which I think anyone who's dealt with trauma from past relationships can relate to. New Entry: The Cribs Unveil New Song “In The Room”

English indie rock band The Cribs have unveiled a lost track from The New Fellas era titled "In The Room".

The song is taken from the upcoming reissues of their first three albums The Cribs, The New Fellas and Men's Needs, Women's Needs, Whatever, set to arrive on 29 July via Sonic Blew/[PIAS]. Pre-order it here.

It was originally recorded in 2005 during the 'The New Fellas' album sessions (produced by Edwyn Collins), but was forgotten about until 2022 when the band found it on the original master tape reels and resurrected it. For the last 17 years it was a genuine lost track.

Speaking about it, the band said: "We had honestly forgotten that this song existed until we received our original master tapes back…we know that sounds disingenuous but it’s true! Life was so chaotic and fast moving back then that we never really had the chance to go back and revisit things - everything was very in the moment, which is probably why this one was able to fall through the cracks."

"It’s really cool to finally hear it completed after all these years," The Cribs added. "Hearing it back for the first time was a surreal experience for us - like a message to our future selves from the past. It is a pretty classic example of what we were doing and where we were coming from back in those days - much like "Hey Scenesters!" or "Mirror Kissers" in the fact that it is lyrically quite reactive and upfront. We would usually just write the lyrics in the moment, to reflect what was going on around us at the time, documentary style - and so as unlikely as it sounds, this song probably only existed for the couple of hours that we originally worked on it, and was then forgotten about once we went back out on one of our endless tours. We think people who like that era of The Cribs will dig it, and we are really happy that we can bring them something new from those days…hopefully they get as big a kick out of it as we did!"

Of the track, vocalist/guitarist John Reed said, “Complication" is about the failure of society to do meaningful things, and the lack of imagination that's doomed humanity to repeat the same mistakes over and over. Why isn't there equitable treatment of all people? Why is there still war? Why can't the richest country in the history of the world provide healthcare for all of its citizens? So many questions with seemingly the same answer from our so-called leaders: it's complicated."

The follow-up to their 2020’s debut Dendrons, set to be released on August 26 via Innovative Leisure. Pre-order it here

The guys were packing their bags for a full European tour before it had to be abruptly canceled when borders closed and venues shut down around the world. Suddenly, a band that cut their teeth on the road had to get comfortable staying at home.

“It was out of necessity,” says Dane Jarvie, who started brainstorming ideas for a new album back at his family’s home in Phoenix, Arizona, just after the pandemic took hold. When he returned to Chicago a few months later, the full band of Jarvie (vocals/guitar/synth), Sprenger (synth/guitar), Matt Kase (bass/synth/vocals), John MacEachen (guitar/samples), Nick Togliatti (drums), and Stef Roti (drums) formed a bubble to get together and work out what would prove to be their highly ambitious and meticulously crafted second album, 5-3-8. “It was just like, well, we can’t tour, we can’t do anything,” Jarvie remembers. “So we might as well just stick together and really create something.”

Watch: Baudelaire Air Music Video For "Lethe"

British alternative/indie rock band Baudelaire have aired the video for their newest single "Lethe".

The song is part of our current playlist and came out on May 13, it is the follow-up to their debut single "Prayers". Grab it here.

Produced by Gavin Monaghan, ‘Lethe’ starts with a mere drum machine, yet it is only a matter of seconds before the industrial ‘wall of sound’ is unleashed from the tracks dark synthesised underbelly. Adding layers of cathartic guitars, Stephen Morris-esc drumming and an iconic bass riff to top it all off. Right from the offset the track has a clear, fresh feel to it – a dissociation from the ‘punk-by-numbers’ approach that many groups seem to take in the modern day. The dance-y element of the track works especially well as ‘Lethe’ seems to have blended the greatest aspects of dark, minimalist synthesised music and the wonders of gloomy post punk into a beautiful array of gritty guitar music.

Courting Announce Debut LP 'Guitar Music', Stream "Loaded"

The 8-track album was produced by double GRAMMY-nominated producer James Dring (Gorillaz, Jamie T, Sorry, Lana Del Rey, Blur, Loyle Carner), and will be out on 23rd September via Play It Again Sam. Pre-order your copy here.

The news comes alongside new single "Loaded", speaking about it, frontman Sean Murphy-O’Neill explains: “In ‘Loaded’ we tie together a lot of ideas about change, and stagnation. It is inspired heavily by pop music, specifically artists like SOPHIE. It is us just throwing everything at the wall and trying to create something fun and ridiculous.”

Going on to speak on the album Murphy-O’Neill says: “Guitar Music is the opposite of our early releases in that it is very emotional. The stories told may be from the perspective of other characters at times, but these songs are always filled with actual feelings. We're no longer trying to hide that.

We felt that Guitar Music as a phrase was reductive and therefore decided to create a record with the intention of it being a body of work that could redeem being a “guitar band”, by pushing it to different boundaries. To us, this record is a statement piece, it felt very exciting to make, to us, it feels a lot more special than we’d originally expected it would be.”

Guitar Music is realising you actually love the music you hated when you were 13. It is lip fillers and being thousands of pounds in debt. It is missing mundane things about your childhood and mourning celebrities you were only aware of posthumously. It is dancing with your friends. It is falling in love with a drawing and it is always online. It is touching toes in bed, hearts carved into trees. It is swimming outside and listening to pop smoke. It is fireworks over family parks and

The track is taken from their forthcoming EP ‘Nothing You Do Matters’ produced by Liars' Angus Andrew, set to arrive on October 5th via Felte Records. Pre-order your copy here.

“People Watching” is almost a mini-suite of a jam, which first kicks in your door and then lulls you with what feels like comfort, before tearing your place apart on the way out. It’s a thrasher of a tune that is more deliberate than breathless, picking its spots to twist the lyrical knife of talk until the words lose meaning, which circle the drain of the song repeatedly, until it has evicted you, or you have evicted it.

New Entry: Jeshua Airs "Esther (22 Mix)"

Glasgow-based introspective dream pop artist Jeshua (aka Joshua Gray) has aired the 22 Mix of his song "Esther".

The song is part of the 30th Anniversary of Glasgow’s staple student ran label Electric Honey (Belle and Sebastian, Biffy Clyro, Snow Patrol).

This is first release from Jeshua (aka Joshua Gray) since his dreamy melancholy debut album Unreliable Narrator dropped in the Summer of 2021, and it sees him revisiting a track from the album and giving it a fresh lick of paint to the lockdown release, after having the opportunity to see the track flesh out and flourish in a live environment.

This reincarnation of ‘Esther’ sees Jeshua collaborating with producer Jamie Holmes (Declan Welsh, Theo Bleak) and it washes over you in an effortless fashion, it’s dreamy aloof pop with a glimmer of hope, despite the mantra about death and religion following the passing the singer’s grandmother.

The addition of live drums adds a flamboyant energy and a summery warmth, lifting ‘Esther’ from its understated shoegazing roots, segueing into upcoming material, which promises to be more collaborative in nature after working with three separate producers on this track.

“‘Esther’ isn't the happiest song in the world, but it does have uplifting moments and the live drums definitely bring a lot more energy and lightness to it, which helps it skip along. It's just a great addition and feels more like what I originally wanted it to be like, although the original has its own charm.

“Overall, the song develops and comes to conclusion. It's more of a positive message than negative, but yeah, it kind of deals with both things. False hope can be a real thing if we believe in life after death, but that could be a positive thing as well.

“My Gran was so religious and I think religion really comforted her in the stages where she's facing death. So, yeah, there's good behind it. Seeing that as a young person as well, it’s food for thought.”

Watch: PVA Return With New Single/Video "Untethered"

London electronic/dance trio PVA have returned with their new single "Untethered", alongside an accompanying music video.

Untethered sees the band expanding on the insistent and propulsive sound laid down on their widely acclaimed debut 2020 EP “Toner”. Produced and mixed by the band, the unrelenting and energetic new single sees the trio once again combining the release of the dancefloor with jagged punk spirit. Built on a bed of dynamic industrial beats, blistering synths and sprechgesang inflected post-punk, “Untethered” is a freeing and powerful statement of intent from the band as they continue their musical evolution.

The song is out today, May 24 via Ninja Tune. Grab it here.

Speaking about it, the band says, "Untethered is a song about release. It’s our current set opener and an introduction to our industrial arm. We wrote it in one session in a burst of chaotic catharsis. The lyrics follow a character being freed from imaginary tethers and experiencing the earth under their feet again."

The single is also accompanied by a new video which perfectly reflects the themes of the track. Directed by the band, the video sees them performing under a pulsating lighting rig with angular and sparse visuals (created by Gabriel Davidson) projected onto the trio as Ella Harris dances unrestrained.
