Los Angeles darkwave/post-punk band ASHRR have aired the video for their latest single "Waves".
Speking about it, the band said: “Since our formation, Ashrr’s sound has been in a constant state of flux as we continually draw inspiration from the creative forces that surround us. Our musical journey led us to a style that explores elements of sound from across the spectrum of rock, from adrenaline fueled post-punk and brooding dark wave to futuristic analog synth and primal guitar driven rock, with all roads leading to our new single ‘WAVES’.”
“’WAVES’ is about life’s struggles, redemption, and the guttural instinct for survival against impossible odds and the realization that by letting anxiety wash over you and pass, you can free yourself.”
Leicester alternative/new wave duo Lusts have announced they will release their debut album 'Illuminations' on Rocktober 23 through 1965 Records.
Lusts are two brothers (Andy and James Stone) evoking both the classic woozy chorus' and reverb laden guitars of Echo and the Bunnymen and the new wave pop sensibilities of Beach Fossils.
The album was produced by MJ from Hookworms in his Leeds studio, it "combines distorted organs and synths with fuzz guitars and a driving choruses of 'uplifting misery'."

About the video the band posted: "From the start, the intention for the Waves video was to explore imagery beyond the obvious route of water, and instead focus on the lyrics and the meaning of the song. We sat down with the directors Youth Hymns and discussed our different ideas for visually representing this.
We were inspired by Virginia Woolf’s ‘The Waves’, the visuals of oscilloscopes, and the idea of constant movement, of a force beyond your control pulling you towards something. Then came their idea of the tunnel, an almost b-movie vibe, and a character falling down with us. The video has a kind of gothic, hypnotic feel, which pays homage to the aesthetics of cult sci-fi and horror. With added Jazzmasters."
London based shoegaze band Echo Lake have announced they will release their sophomore album titled 'Era' on March 2 via No Pain in Pop.
According to the press release, the record is a near-perfect encapsulation of their early sound, with critics calling it "dazzling, hypnotic and deliriously seductive" and "truly magnificent". The songwriting pair of guitarist Thom Hill and vocalist Linda Jarvis would spend two years working on the tracks which would form Era in East London’s Holy Mountain Studio, the first time the band had spent in a professional studio. The album is a result of this experience; far maturer, denser and considered than the band’s home recorded debut. Points recall the textures and expansive ambition of Spaceman 3, Neu! and Deerhunter yet the album is never stylistically referential to any particular period or style.
The follow up to 2012 debut 'Wild Peace', can be pre-ordered here on CD/LP format and as a download, with the album's lead single "Waves" available to download immediately.
