New Jersey electronic/synth pop/synth wave outfit TEEEL have announced the release of their new album 'We Live Here Now'.
The eelecven-track record was written, produced and performed by Jim Smith, and will be out on August 22. Pre-order your copy here.
From the band: "We Live Here Now" is inspired by our new life in San Diego. Over the last four years, there were many highs and lows. From spending time at the beach to being trapped indoors during a pandemic, this collection of songs captures those feelings.
"We Live Here Now" is full of thick synth bass lines, crunchy and powerful drums, lush synth textures, floaty stacked vocals, and Steve's guitars range from soft and acoustic to dark and dirty. Some songs are upbeat and energetic and some are chill and grooving. From light to dark, this album has a full range of emotion. It's also reflected in the cover art by showing the sky in a unique way. This is perfect for fans of bands like M83, New Order, and 311 to even modern synthwave and indie acts.

The collection will be out 11 March 2022 via Domino Record Co, and features 18 classic Franz Ferdinand tracks, plus two brand-new tracks "Billy Goodbye" and "Curious", produced by Alex Kapranos, Julian Corrie and Stuart Price (Dua Lipa, Madonna, Pet Shop Boys). Pre-order your copy here.
Talking about the process of picking tracks for the album, lead singer Alex Kapranos said:
It's the same as writing a set-list for a festival: you want to play the songs you know people want to hear. The hits. Bring the hits to the head. The heart. The feet. That means obvious singles, but also songs you know have a special meaning for both band and audience like Outsiders. We also added two new songs, recorded last year: Billy Goodbye and Curious, both co-produced at the last stage with Stuart Price. I have friends who believe you’re somehow not a “real” fan if you own a best of rather than a discography. I disagree. I think of my parents’ record collection as a kid. I loved their compilation LPs. I am so grateful that they had Changes or Rolled Gold. Those LPs were my entrance point. My introduction.

UPDATE 18/09/2020: "Sleepless" is our new Single of the Week!
"Sleepless is a no strings attached indie anthem, exploring ideas of communication and loss of friendships and relationships. A driven, upbeat, indie track, with big choruses and is an earworm that will get stuck in your head all day; touching on the understanding and empathy of relationship struggles and communicating with others about feelings. It’s about knowing when to take a step back, where you stand, and the struggles of mixed messages and self-doubt."
Swedish shoegaze/alt band Spunsugar have shared full details for their highly anticipated debut album 'Drive-through Chapel'.
Featuring the previously shared single "Happier Happyless", the 11-track record will be out via Adian Recordings on Friday 2nd October. Pre-order your copy here.
The record outing sees them take on the dark and pulsing nature of the post-punk sound and deliver it through a completely new and diverse contemporary lens. Produced by Joakim Lindberg at Studio Sickan, Malmö, who has filled it with a rich and textured atmosphere running the length of this new collection, ‘Drive-Through Chapel’ sets itself as one of the most thunderous and anthemic offerings in the Adrian Recordings catalogue.
They are more often compared to Curve, Swervedriver or Ringo Deathstarr rather than the likes of Cocteau Twins or Slowdive. Although heavy on effects, nothing is hidden within the music, including the lyrics. The lyrics are heavy with pop cultural references, stemming from Cordelia’s love for obscure genre films. Often driven by riffs rather than soundscapes, they focus equally on having a prominent bass as well as prominent guitars.
“We call ourselves an alternative rock band with shoegaze influences. Sound wise, imagine if Alternative Nation on MTV 1997 and a drum machine fall into a cotton candy machine. The cotton candy wheel breaks and derails. We grew up farmer offsprings, bible belt kids of fundamentalists and trailer trash in small towns of Sweden. These are our references and this shapes our sound.” – Spunsugar
The band have also shared their new single "Belladonna," a Shoegaze pop tune about suicide you can dance to? Why yes, Belladonna is a nice sing-a-long song about questions about whether those suicidal thoughts are hereditary or if you’re just depressed because you’ve seen your parent not wanting to live anymore. About not feeling that you’re worthy of love. And what a banger it is! The first single by Spunsugar that showcases the singing chops of bass player Felix, who sings in unison with lead singer Elin in the chorus. Keep your ear out for the parts where all three members are singing at the same time. The closest to Beach Boys Spunsugar has ever been.

London alt/disco/punk funk/pop band Stats have announced the release of their sophomore album 'Powys 1999'.
The follow-up to last year's debut Other People's Lives, will be out on November 13th via Memphis Industries, featuring their new single "Naturalise Me". Pre-order your copy here.
About the new song, lead singer Ed Seed says: "Growing up I felt like I didn’t fit in or belong where I was born and raised. I’m sure a lot of people feel this way. When it comes to the countryside we often talk about the natural - and by implication the unnatural - as if we are talking about the real, and by implication the fake. I felt somehow fake in Powys as a born incomer, un-local, neither Welsh nor English. But by looking at the landscape I started to realise the construction and extraction behind it, and the myth of its naturalness."
On the album, he comments: "Powys 1999 was recorded at a residential studio near Powys. I knew we had to go back to Wales to make this album. I also knew I didn't want it to be sunny and meaninglessly pretty. It had to be October, when the weather's unpredictable. I wanted the band to be able to step outside and feel that."
"This record isn’t exactly about Powys or 1999, but I was reaching for that landscape and thinking about some of the people who I grew up with, and especially the different reasons people came from elsewhere to live there." He added.

Denmark electronic/alt artist Thomas Bertelsen aka TOM And His Computer has premiered the video for his new single "Puzzle" feat. Roxy Jules.
The song is taken from his upcoming debut album 'Future Ruins' which will be released on Trentemøller's label In My Room October 16th.
Teaming up with the legend that is Trentemøller as a co-producer, the album is preceded by this 2nd single Puzzle - a spikey, psych/indie/electronic track with vocals from Roxy Jules. The production is clear and lively, allowing the song to shine through while imbuing the proceedings with an exciting, urgent shimmer.
Trentemøller’s remix takes things to another level - fat, chunky drums meet Vox organs, fuzz guitar and freestyling synths in a riot of colour and playfulness.
