New Entry: The Ninth Wave Unleash New Single "Imitation"

Glasgow noise pop/post-punk band The Ninth Wave have unleashed their new single "Imitation".

The song is taken from the upcoming new album  'Infancy' [Part II], due out on November 15th.

“Co-lead vocalist Haydn says: ’Imitation’ is what happens when I forget about my lonely disposition and get too caught up in everyone else’s lives. It’s about how easy it is to become something you hate and we hate simple songs, so we made this song really simple and straightforward. We recorded it in the summer of 2018 with Dan Austin and Phil Parsons. This song was the quickest one of all of the 12 songs we recorded to track, as we did the backbone of it live to capture the feeling we felt when we played it live in the months prior to the ‘Infancy’ sessions.”.

Watch: The Wants Air New Single/Video "Fear My Society"

New York art-pop trio The Wants (featuring Bodega members Madison Velding-VanDam and Heather Elle) have aired the video for their new single "Fear My Society".

About the song, vocalist and guitarist Madison Velding-VanDam comments: "’Fear My Society’ is a song that has gone through multiple genre shifts and moods until it finally clicked this past year. In one sense, the lyrics couldn’t be more straightforward — a reflection of the always-shifting (though recently seismically so) political, economic, and technological atmosphere of the United States.”

"But I didn’t write the song in reaction to this. I was reflecting on the pressures I put on myself to achieve — “will you love me if I’m a failure?” is an honest concern of mine, a universal and primal concern that spans generations and even species. I’m interested in always pushing a step further towards what scares me.”

New Entry: Hundredth Air New Single "Leave Yourself"

Myrtle Beach, SC rock/melodic hardcore band Hundredth have aired their new single "Leave Yourself".

According to vocalist/guitarist Chadwick Johnson: “‘Leave Yourself’ started out with the loose aim of trying to write our version of “Just Like Heaven” by The Cure. Obviously we veered from that path along the way, but it’s funny to think about where songs start. While we were putting together the instrumental we almost ruined it by trying to overcomplicate it. When I went to write lyrics and vocals, I decided to play on that exact concept. We often overthink and overanalyze rather than relying on instinct. “The song is about the dichotomy of wanting to do everything and nothing at the same time,” Johnson continues. “It’s both an external question of possibility and a solution to internal scrutiny. Ultimately, ‘Leave Yourself’ is a song about getting out of your own way.”

The song is part of our current playlist and is taken from a forthcoming EP which is set to release soon via their own Moth Noise imprint.

Vocalist Fred Macpherson says of the new single, ""Half Life" is about the fear of missing out on your own life. The worry that you're losing touch with people, places, culture, no longer recognising yourself in the mirror, the constant tick of the clock in the background. It's about wondering how much time you have left. But we wanted the music to be upbeat and celebratory. There's nothing better than a group of people just losing it, all singing along to something a bit miserable. That's the life blood of the indie disco, handed down from generation to generation... Dancing with tears in your eyes."
