The concept of BNQT (pronounced “Banquet”) came to Pulido while touring for Midlake's 2013 release, 'Antiphon.' Gathering a number of contrasting yet complementary artists he’d befriended or shared the stage with, Pulido set out to establish a new creative environment untethered from other work – “Like a poor man’s version of the Traveling Wilburys!” he says.
"That's what art is about for me," Pulido continues, "creating with other people that you love and appreciate."

No distractions from our day to day lives. No dashing mid-take to get to work on time. No phone calls from our landlords. No other commitments. Just two solid weeks of living it.
"This record is the product of the band’s dependence on each other in isolation, it is a record of peace, love and understanding." he added.

"If you are looking for like-minded contemporary peers then look no further than the grey and black post-punk of the likes of Disappears and Preoccupations. At times waves of noise are underpinned by tight, rigid rhythms, at others they’re allowed to spill over the edges to create disquiet landscapes."

Canadian power-pop/indie rock band The New Pornographers have announced the release of their seventh studio album 'Whiteout Conditions'.
The follow-up to 2014’s Brill Bruisers will be out on April 7th via their our own record label Collected Works. Pre-order your copy here.
“Cohesive.” It’s a word New Pornographers founder A.C. Newman still sounds a little bit surprised to say as he describing the band’s seventh album, Whiteout Conditions. It’s a quality that you wouldn’t necessarily intuitively associate with a so-called supergroup that, by its very collective nature, seems bound to have a good deal of stylistic variance built into the formula (or lack of it). Can an outfit built on the appeal of multiple frontmen and frontwomen develop a signature sound after all? Maybe, and maybe better late than never.
“On other records,” says Newman, “it felt like sometimes it was very clear: oh, this is a fast one with me singing, and then the next would be a slow song with Neko (Case) singing. And I’ve always liked that in a White Album kind of way — being a band that just does whatever the hell they want from track to track. But when we did Brill Bruisers (the band’s previous album, released in 2014), it was the first time where I thought: Let’s try to make a cohesive record. Let’s try to give it a sound and see how focused we can make it. And on this record, I think we went a lot farther down that road.”
The band have also shared their new single "High Ticket Attractions". Scroll down for the interactive lyric video (directed by Chris Shier).
British psych rockers Syd Arthur have premiered the video for their current single "No Peace".
The song is part of our current playlist and is taken from their fourth studio album 'Apricity', released in October last year via Harvest Records. Grab your copy here.
About the track the band said: “No Peace is about information overload. We set out to write an inviting song with a message we can all relate to, a reminder to put that screen down once in a while and experience something more real.”
Auckland alt-pop/nu wave band Cut Off Your Hands have dropped their catchy new single "Higher Lows and Lower Highs".
The song is available now, it was written by Nick Johnston and Cut Off Your Hands, and the title refers to Nick Johnston’s recent diagnosis of a form of bipolar disorder. The lyrics speak in stream of consciousness manner of the negotiations of life compartmentalised into daily routine that such a disorder can be managed with.
It features a solid live sampled repetitive rhythm section, the structural composition takes cues from Remain in Light era Talking Heads as well as early New York house production. This leaves room for the vocals and lyrics to do the work in differentiating chorus/verse/bridge etc. The rhythm provided in the sampled/looped repetition is augmented by layers of percussion thanks to Jeremy Toy’s production.
Bristol indie pop/rock band New Carnival have released their new single "Run For Cover".
About the track, band member Max told COS: “It’s very cathartic, taking you through the stages of dealing with suppressed anger. It feels like setting something on fire, letting it flame up and burn out.”

The song is part of our current playlist and is taken from their 2016 EP 'Gentle Slopes', which came out in September last year via Soliti. Buy it here.
The video was directed by Otto Heikola, who said: "The inspiration for the song had come from an actual event in which boyish behaviour lead to tragedy. In the music video we decided to do something thematically similar, but on a much larger scale, set in the violent events of World War II with the band becoming part of the action."
Australian psychedelic-pop/rock band POND have announced the release of their new album titled 'The Weather'
The new record, like their previous full-length, 2015’s Man It Feels Like Space Again, was produced by Tame Impala's Kevin Parker, and will be out on on 5th May through Marathon Artists. Pre-order your copy here.
About the album Nicholas Allbrook says: "It’s a concept album, not completely about Perth, but focusing on all the weird contradictory things that make up a lot of colonial cities around the world. Laying out all the dark things underneath the shimmering exterior of cranes, development, money and white privilege. It’s not our place, but it is our place. British, but Australian, but not REAL Australian. On the edge of the world with a hell of a lot of fucked things defining our little city, still we try and live a wholesome respectful life, while being inherently disrespectful. At the end of all this confusion in our weird little white antipodean world, there’s the beach, purity and nature that brings us all together."

According to the press release, the record "is the the ultimate homage to the 80's, transporting you flawlessly from dark underground clubs to the tropical beaches of a neon lit daydream. Seminal UK post-punk band Wire have announced the release of their 15th studio album 'Silver/Lead'.
The follow-up to their 2016’s mini-LP Nocturnal Koreans will be out on March 31 through the band's own pinkflag label, and arrives on the 40th anniversary of their debut performance. This is the sound of a uniquely addictive 21st century psychedelic post-punk.
Colin Newman and Matt Simms' guitar work is alternately jagged and luminous, while bassist Graham Lewis's ear-catching lyrics are vivid yet oblique. Meanwhile, drummer Robert Grey provides a virtual masterclass in percussive minimalism. But it's how the various instruments mesh together that really counts. And Newman's production creates a sonic space in which even the smallest gesture is accorded some recognition.
The band have also shared the album's lead single "Short Elevated Period", self-described as “breakneck-paced guitar pop”.
