New Entry: Man Made Unveil New Single "Carsick Cars"

Manchester alternative/indie rock trio Man Made have unveiled their new single "Carsick Cars".

Frontman by Nile Marr (yes, the son of the ex-Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr), the band was initially formed as Marr's solo project, a way of him to test out the strength of his song-writing without any distractions of any other added elements. As the band progressed, Scott Strange was added to the line-up on drums and Callum Rogers was scooped from other bands based on the fact he “looked cool”. Luckily he provided that vital added element, completing the three-piece on bass and adding a heavy, primitive tone to balance out Nile Marr's melodic ability.

The band’s time spent in the Pacific North West, as well as their native Manchester, has also seen their influences widen to include American guitar bands from the Portland, Seattle, and Olympia scenes, as well as the rainy atmosphere of their hometown.

New Order Confirm New Album Will Be Released This Year

Manchester legends New Order have confirmed that they will release their 10th studio LP this year via Mute Records.

This will be the band's first album since the departure of founding bassist Peter Hook in 2007 and the return of keyboardist Gillian Gilbert, who last appeared on 2001's 'Get Ready.'

The band have revealed that they've already recorded two songs for their upcoming LP, "Plastic" and "Restless," the first of which they debuted live last year and the latter will feature the Chemical Brothers’ Tom Rowlands.

In an interview with Rolling Stone, drummer Stephen Morris, said the record also makes full use of readily available technology, including modern drum and synth programming. These elements have shaped what the band is already describing as a “heavy electronic sound with melodic guitars and an orchestral feel.”

Frontman Bernard Sumner spoke about some of the bands that have influenced New Order and the bands they have influenced in return.

"I don’t think you can say that anyone is doing what New Order does but musicians are all influenced by their record collections. Our earliest influences were Bowie and Iggy Pop and Kraftwerk and songwriters like Neil Young before that. Instead of changing things in a negative way, [the bands influenced by New Order] are giving it new life."

"Some people may say that electronic music is cold and unromantic," Sumner added, referencing their hit "Blue Monday" as a example of how a song can be both robotic and emphatic. "That's true in a way, but now a computer is able to translate exactly what your brain is thinking. That's exciting. It's what we were trying to achieve in the 1980s."

Björk Releases New album ‘Vulnicura’ Two Months Early

Icelandic singer Björk has unveiled her new album 'Vulnicura,' worldwide over the course of the next 24 hours via One Little Indian, two months before scheduled release.

In a note on her Facebook page, the eccentric Icelandic musician said:

dear websitefolks , fans , tweeters and my music supporters on all the sorts of www :
vulnicura will be rolling out worldwide over the next 24 hours !!
i am so grateful you are still interested in my work !!
i appreciate every little bit !!!
i wanted to tell you the tale of making of this album
i guess i found in my lap one year into writing it a complete heartbreak album . kinda surprised how thoroughly i had documented this in pretty much accurate emotional chronology .... like 3 songs before a break up and three after . so the anthropologist in me sneaked in and i decided to share them as such . first i was worried it would be too self indulgent but then i felt it might make it even more universal . and hopefully the songs could be a help , a crutch to others and prove how biological this process is : the wound and the healing of the wound . psychologically and physically . it has a stubborn clock attached to it .

there is a way out and then a magic thing happened to me : as i lost one thing something else entered . alejandro contacted me late summer 2013 and was interested in working with me . it was perfect timing . to make beats to the songs would have taken me 3 years ( like on vespertine ) but this enchanted arca would visit me repeatedly and only few months later we had a whole album !!! it is one of the most enjoyable collaboration i have had !

i then went ahead and wrote string and choir arrangements and recorded them in iceland
towards the end of the album i started looking around for a mixing engineer and was introduced by a mutual friend of ours , robin carolan to the haxan cloak . he mixed the album and also made a beat for one half of "family" . together with chris elms the engineer we kinda formed a band during the mixing process and this is the album we made !!!
i do hope you enjoy it

The song is a classic tune here on Kool Rock Radio and is the title track of their excellent debut album 'Atlas', which was released in April last year through Audiolith Records. Get your copy here, if you haven't already.

About the track's themes and the video's production, the band said: "Atlas’ theme is about despair. An insoluble situation where the only end is your own demise. The fight between good and evil was the perfect choice to represent the essence of the song. A determined woman fighting a vicious red dragon, which is responsible for taking the life of a dearly loved person. We’re all fans of 70’s asian martial arts flicks, so we immediately settled with this idea and got to work with Miguel Vasquez and Il Kang, our directors. They’ve assembled a great team and we’re proud of the result to kick off a great 2015."

Watch: Deadpanzies Reveal Music Video For "Frightgirls"

L.A. via Oakland, noisey grrl punk band (with a no wave twist) Deadpanzies have revealed the video for their catchy track "Frightgirls".

Consisting of bass, drums, electric mandola and eerie bratty vocals.. the band uses interesting syncopation to create unexpectedly catchy songs. Hard repetitive bass lines you find getting stuck in your head mixed with energetic minimal punk drums and riot grrl power inspired lyrics sung in unison.

The girls are currently working on their full-length album at Lolipop Records with Robert [Cifuentes of Corners and Billy Changer].
