New Entry: Boy Harsher Premiere New Single "Give Me A Reason"

Northampton based dark/electronic/drone duo Boy Harsher (aka Jae Matthews and Augustus Muller) have premiered their new single "Give Me A Reason".

The song is part of 'The Runner (Original Soundtrack)', out January 21st, 2022. Get it here.

Boy Harsher’s fifth release is not a traditional album — it’s the soundtrack to a short horror film written, produced, and directed by the duo titled 'The Runner' which will be released January 2022. The album balances cinematic instrumentals with pop songs that push the boundaries of Boy Harsher’s sound.

“Give Me a Reason” is a smoky bar room at the end of the night. It’s leaning against red tail lights in hot, dry wind. Side-eyes and you take a sip. It’s when you open your mouth, but say nothing. We wrote this song in the middle of the pandemic, during isolation. It felt good to remember / fantasize about late night possibilities. Now “we’re back” but truthfully it feels like life will never be the same. So use this number to feel good again and show us how you dance to it x

Watch: Micra Share New Single/Video "Jazzman"

Sydney dream pop duo Micra have shared the video for their new single "Jazzman".

The song is taken from their debut EP 'Sunday', the first in a coming trilogy planned for release over the next year via Liberation Records. Get it here

As a whole, the EP is a sprawling, sonic journey through a range of genres and moods; moments of quiet contemplation are balanced by hits of euphoria and release, mirroring the sentiments of the title track, as the band explore ideas of introspection, isolation and freedom. Genre lines are blurred and blended to sweet effect.

“Each EP in this trilogy represents a different side to Micra. Over the last few years, we have been constantly creating and refining. Yet we have only presented a small glimpse into our musical world so far. From songs that came together quickly in one day, to songs that we have spent years tinkering with, each EP is a different exploration of sonics and moods.

“Our first EP explores the themes of introspection and isolation in different ways. These aren’t always negative emotions leading to negative moments. Sometimes they can be the exact opposite.”

Frontman Johnny Quinn says the track is “a critique of the UK government and how they’ve handled the country in the last couple years; people are becoming racist, the government is incompetent and now people are dying.”

“People keep voting in fucking shite things like the Tories, Brexit, the Tories again, and I’m sick of it, so, I thought I’d write about that frustration and the moral decline of Britain and its so-called ‘values’.” He continued.
