Johnny Marr Announces Debut Solo Album "The Messenger"

Jonnhy Marr, who is celebrating his birthday today, is set to release his debut LP titled 'The Messenger' sometime next year.

The song has been added to our current playlist www.koolrockradio.com

"It is late in the day to be making my debut," Marr said in a recent interview.

"I didn't want to be in someone else's band at this point. In the past I might have been reluctant to stand up front, and I've been lucky enough to be in bands with great singers, so it wasn't necessary. But this is my band now, and the frontman in my band has to play guitar. I do both." He continued.

Speaking about the rumours that his former band The Smiths are set to reunite, he said: "Everybody seems to know more about a Smiths reunion than I do. Those rumours are like a sport for everyone involved bar the people who were in the group 30 years ago. But it's not happening."

Arcade Fire Working "Full Time" On New Album

Arcade Fire drummer Jeremy Gara has given an update on the progress of the band's new album.

Gara told Canadian radio station that for the follow-up to 2010's 'The Suburbs' they had to leave their old church based studio, as the roof collapsed. However, they now have a new space where they are working 'full-time'.

"Now we’re in the studio pretty much full time just doing what we do and we kind of shut the door," Gara told.

"We haven’t really gone out and done anything in over a year now. We haven’t done photos or interviews or anything. We’re just working on music and growing beards and living at home a lot and going out to dinner together."

"We are under no pressure from record labels or management or whatever to do anything on any sort of schedule. We’re just working. We have no deadlines. It’s kind of coming along." He added.

Depeche Mode Confirm Tour, Announce New Album

As was expected, Depeche Mode have confirmed that they will release their 13th studio album and embark on a globe-spanning tour next year.

As previously reported, the tour will begin on 7th in Tel Aviv, Israel.

The announcement was made at a special press conference in Paris at 12.30pm UK time, which started with a demo of an unnamed track as a little taste of what they've been up to for the last 6 months. The three members of Depeche Mode, Dave Gahan, Martin Gore and Andy Fletcher, appeared on stage before taking questions from the audience of media and fans.

Watch the video collage aired during the Depeche Mode press conference below.

Produced by Gore and Ben Hillie, the yet-untitled new album will contain 20 songs described as a cross between "Violator and Songs of Faith and Devotion."

Frontman Dave Gahan said "we're really excited with this record that we made and we think that you're gonna like it too."

Martin Gore said: "I'm very happy with the new album and I think there are at least about 3 or 4 songs that are up there with some of the best that we've ever done."

"I could say that there's a couple of songs that Martin has written on this record that for me to sing as well, I'm definitely most excited about. I might say one of two in particular, you know, the occasion that happens when you really feel moved by a song and don't matter how many times you sing it or trying perform it, there's some songs that do that for you... it's quite rare too I think, because the special moments that you wait for is why you write, you try to get to that moment and sometimes you touch on there, sometimes you don't," David added.

New Order's Bernard Sumner: "I’d just like to make another album"

New Order frontman Bernard Sumner has revealed more on the reunited band’s plans to record a new album. In an interview with Billboard, Sumner talked about his hopes of adding a brand new album to the comeback trail.

"I'd just like to make another album," he explained. "I'm getting a creative itch that I need to scratch. Playing live is great, but it's not a creative thing, really. It's a reproductive thing. I'd quite like to make an electronic record, because we've not made one for quite a while really."

Sumner also gave his opinion on the bassist's recent announcement that he will tour the first two New Order albums with The Light in January next year, saying: "I think it sucks to be honest. We found out that he was touring 'Unknown Pleasures' through the press. He didn't tell us, which we thought was pretty low. It just seems like a real commercial thing to do."

"He seems to be doing it for the money," he added. "To me, Joy Division and New Order were never about that. I thought it was disrespectful to the rest of us. But I must admit that once he started doing it, we did think, 'What are we doing holding back with New Order?' So, in a way - if you'll excuse the pun - he showed us the light."

Empire Of The Sun's Peter Mayes: 'Our new album sounds amazing''

Empire Of The Sun's Peter Mayes has revealed the band are close to finishing work on their second album.

The producer spoke of his excitement about the band's second album. He revealed that after writing hundreds of new tracks, they now had a potential collection of tunes to serve as a follow up to their debut, Walking On A Dream.

"We've been working on the new Empire Of The Sun record since last November and I am so excited about that right now," the producer told in an interview. "We're getting towards the end of that now. It is sounding amazing. It's really big."

He also added: "We need a week to just digest it all. We've written over a hundred songs. We do right now have a great bunch of songs that could easily make up a really strong record."

"One of the tricks with Empire is to have a certain sense of timelessness. Not nostalgia for the sake of it, but a certain musicality," he said. "Those sort of feelings go beautifully with Nick's voice. It can be really futuristic, it can be anything. It's not just a dubstep record that's going to be cool for three months."

Empire Of The Sun released Walking On A Dream in 2008. It reaches double platinum in Australia and gold status in the UK.

We knew a stadium concert in Budapest was ground–breaking, but hadn’t quite anticipated what a historic night it would turn out to be. Nicks added that the reunited group are working on new music, though nothing is officially confirmed yet. "Well, actually, maybe like two songs, maybe four, who knows? We don't really know yet 'cos we're not in the world of Fleetwood Mac yet. We're just still in talks about that."

They are also one of a number of names rumoured to be headlining Glastonbury when the festival returns.

Emily Eavis, the festival organiser has said in the past, "I think Fleetwood Mac would be amazing to get, I’ll be totally honest we haven’t had any conversations with them yet but, you know it is still early days. We’re just talking to some headliners now. For us it’s about getting the balance of heritage bands, legends and new bands – just keeping that balance."

Depeche Mode Announce Press Conference This Month

Depeche Mode have confirmed plans to hold a press conference in Paris this October.

The band have been working on new material throughout 2012 but have made no official statement on their release plans. It is now expected they will name a 2013 date for the release of new material.

Taking place on October 23rd, the event opens at 1:30pm and will be broadcast live online on the band's official website, with Depeche Mode planning what the press release describes as "an exciting announcement". Stay tuned to depechemode.com for more details.

In an interview earlier this year, Dave Gahan said about the progress of new material: "We've recorded probably close to twenty songs so far, and they're all starting to get in pretty good shape. We're now starting to whittle that down what's gonna be the record."

Björk To Release Remix Album 'bastards' This November

Björk has announced that she'll be releasing a remix album on November 19th through One Little Indian.

The album, entitled 'bastards', will feature some of the remixes featured in her remix series from earlier in the year and will be available on 12" vinyl, as well as CD and digital download.

"I felt it important to gather together the essence of the remixes, so I picked a quarter of them for one cd for people who are perhaps not too sassy downloaders or don’t have the time or energy to partake in the hunter-gathering rituals of the internet" said Björk of bastards.

"I was incredibly impressed by how the core of the mixes took Biophilia somewhere else while still keeping its character, and like they so often do when at their best: the remixes gave the songs more beats; legs to dance on! I spent some time editing together not necessarily the best ones but the ones that made the strongest whole."

Check the tracklisting for bastards below.

1. Crystalline (Omar Souleyman Remix)

TEMPLES - Band on the Month Rocktober 2012

Temples are a yet-mysterious self-proclaimed neo-psych duo from Kettering, UK. Their music has 60s psychedelic influences, tastefully retro, and done extremely well.

In July 2012, they unveiled an EP's worth of songs on their Youtube channel, without formally announcing any release details.

Their latest track "Sun Structures", revealed on September 10, comes from what is rumoured to be an EP some time in the near future.

Temples is one of our favourite new bands of the year and all that we can assure you is that these guys have a bright future, don't let this pass you by.

No further information has come to light, but we'll keep you updated, so stay tuned!

**Remember, we play new music FIRST!
