THE CITY GATES Air New Single "Hanged Drawn and Quartered"

Montreal post punk/shoegaze band The City Gates have aired their new single "Hanged Drawn and Quartered".

The song is out now via Velouria Recordz and Icy Cold Records, grab it here

The City Gates bass player and vocals’ Jean-Sébastien says about the song: “I got the idea for that title as I was reading an article on the very worst execution methods and it just stuck there somewhere in my memory.” Hanged Drawn and Quartered song lyrics is about “The most horrible way to execute someone definitely was to hang, draw and quarter the poor soul. As the name implies, you choke, stretch, gut and dismember the culprit in front of a live audience.”

“The melody came to me in the shower. I don’t know why, but melodies always seem to appear by magic once I’m in there! Anyway, I jumped out of the bathroom, ran into my home studio and laid the basics tracks for the song in an hour or so. The lyrics reflect the twisted ways we torture ourselves with daily drama and unresolved issues and the suffering it brings.”

To promote their 'Age of Resilience' album, released in June 2021 the band will embark on a European tour from October 6 to October 11, includes shows with Golden Apes, She Pleasures HerSelf, Days of Sorrow, and more.

Buzzcocks Drop New Single/Video "Manchester Rain"

British punk rock pioneers Buzzcocks have dropped the video for their new single "Manchester Rain".

The song is taken from their upcoming new album 'Sonics In The Soul', set to be released on September 23 via Cherry Red Records. Pre-order it here.

The legendary Manchester punk band need little introduction. Back in 1977, they gave birth to a generation of independent labels with their debut EP ‘Spiral Scratch’. Thereafter, their melodic punk-pop proved irresistible, leading to hit singles and three landmark albums. They broke up in 1981 but reunited in 1989 and have been going steady ever since. Sadly, singer Pete Shelley passed away in 2018 but founder member and the band’s other singer/songwriter Steve Diggle has kept the flag flying. During the COVID pandemic, Steve and co. (Chris Remington on bass, Danny Farrant on drums) busied themselves with recording ‘Sonics In The Soul’. Recorded at Studio 7in London, the album was co- produced by Steve himself with Laurence Loveless.

Hallan Unleash Music Video For "Money Talks"

Portsmouth indie rock/alt/post punk band Hallan have unveiled the video for their latest single "Money Talks".

The song was produced by Andy Savours (acclaimed for his work with Arctic Monkeys, PJ Harvey, My Bloody Valentine, Black Country, New Road and Sorry) and came out on September 8th through Nice Swan Records. Get it here.

Detailing their latest track, the band explained: “Me and my father often stay up late and watch the channels far along the TV guide, the ones no one gets to. Take a look and you’ll find a mesmerising facade streaming right to your television screen. Business men frantically explode with emotion, demonstrating their ability to bring sight to the blind, shame to your heart and your hard earned money to their wallet. Firearms for Christ and a new family car. You could have it all and more, all it takes is the delivery of your bank details into the preacher man’s inbox. After all it’s what the Holy Spirit told her. “Sow your seed and watch what God does””.
