Watch: Sven The Slacker Shares Music Video For "Running In Circles"

The song is taken from his upcoming EP 'Dogtown', which will be available on June 25. Pre-order it here.

The four songs in Dogtown revolve around the life in a shoddy smalltown, they tell of being in love with being in love rather than with the actual person, only for the narrator to end up lost and lonely in the same old wasteland.

Musically Sven was influenced by John Foxx’s album Metamatic, by Black Marble, and New Order.

Watch: Peacock Method Release Debut Single/Video "I Don't Mind"

Manchester indie disco/pop band Peacock Method have released the video for their catchy debut single "I Don't Mind".

Embodying said aesthetic, Peacock Method’s debut single ‘I Don’t Mind’ is three minutes of deep grooves, pulsating bass and constantly shifting textures that evolves subtly and steadily as it progresses; it’s second half an almost different beast entirely to the skittish, coy indifference of the first.

Drawing early comparisons to the likes of Ian Dury & The Blockheads and Talking Heads, it’s easy to hear their influence throughout, though it’s far from derivative. Described by the band as being “an emotive electronic anthem that came from the desire for escapism, a blasé attitude towards partying, and inhibition and anxiety on a night out.”

Peacock Method are: Adam - lead vocals/guitar/keys/production, Lucas - bass/backing vocals and Rich - lead guitar/backing vocals

Norwegian psych-electronica trio Nylenda have unleashed their new single "Without and Still Within".

The song is out now and is taken from their forthcoming new album 'Medicating a Prophet', set to be released October 8. Get it here.

Throughout the eight tracks of the album, Nylenda will take us on a full-fledged journey through their universe of psychedelic pop, space disco, and krautrock.

On “Without and Still Within” Nylenda takes us out of the club and into space. The band showcases a more psychedelic side of their sound that features hypnotic, soaring vocals accompanied by whirring, spacey synths, and a thunderous escalation at the midpoint. They have even replaced their trusted drum machine with some phased-out prog-rock drum fills.

«Wind and fire flows through me as discordant harmonies» / «walking fast but standing still». The lyrics explores how contrasting emotions can be present at once and how this ambivalence can prevent us from making choices and move forward.

Vistas Announce New LP 'What Were You Hoping To Find?', Stream "Dayglow"

Edinburgh indie rock/pop band Vistas have announced the release of their sophomore full-length album 'What Were You Hoping To Find?'.

The follo-up to last year's debut album Everything Changes In The End, will be out on 20th August via Believe. Pre-order it here.

Frontman Prentice Robertson said of the record: “It’s incredibly clichéd to call album two “the difficult second album” but I think that description really does ring true. When I sat down at the start of 2020 to try and write some new music there was so much uncertainty in my life. Our first record wasn’t released yet and I didn’t know how that would be received or where we would end up once it was out. As 2020 progressed it would be safe to say that this sense of uncertainty grew (for obvious reasons) and I think this is where the second album came from.

“Looking for some kind of answer is the common thread that runs through this album. On our debut, we focused on the transition from our teenage years into adulthood and on this album we asked the question: “now that you’re here, what it is that you want?”. All the tracks on this record look at something where uncertainty plays a large role and we felt the title ‘What Were You Hoping to Find?’ summed up the sentiment of the album as a whole. We ask a lot of questions across this album and I think it has helped us to answer them for ourselves.”

TakThe band have also shared their new single "Dayglow", “I wrote ‘Dayglow’ right at the start of lockdown and it was intended to be an optimistic song,” the band’s Prentice says. “At that time, I would often daydream about things I wanted to do when lockdown ended and I found that was a good way for me to deal with what was happening. It made me miss those lost nights with my favourite people but also made me optimistic that they would happen again and that’s what helped pull me through.”

Check out the album's tracklist and listen to "Dayglow", below.

What Were You Hoping To Find? Tracklisting:

New Entry: Oh Baby Unveil New Single "I Need Somebody To Love Tonight"

London/Manchester electronic/synth duo Oh Baby (Rick Hornby and Jen Devereux) have unveiled their new single "I Need Somebody To Love Tonight".

The song is taken from their forthcoming debut album 'Hey Genius', which will be available on July 23 through Burning Witches Records.

Speaking about the track, the band said “I Need Somebody To Love Tonight is a cover of an obscure track by Patrick Cowley who was a composer and electronic musician/producer in 70’s San Francisco and who’s music formed part of the New York underground post-disco scene of the early 80’s. When we discovered his early instrumentals and demos had been re-released we devoured all that homemade analog charm. Finding out that the original track was part of music commissioned for gay porn films gave the sound even more beautiful late-night sleaze.”

Speaking about the track, vocalist Saul Kane explains: “I originally wrote the main structure for Burn Me Out over a year ago and it forever stayed as an old idea until recently when I decided to sit down and give it some attention. All I had was a chorus melody and the chord progression but the lyrical theme and subject found me in the end. The song is about dependency in a relationship and the constant cycle of habits that it entails, but it can be about anything that you rely on..”

Things in music usually don’t happen that way, but I love that it did this time. I hope the lack of hesitation and excitement we had in recording it is felt when you hear it. "

Watch: Malady Reveal Music Video For "Famous Last Words"

London indie pop/jangle pop/alt band Malady have revealed the video for their newest single "Famous Last Words".

The song is part of our current playlist and is out now through Nice Swan Records. Buy it here.

Speaking about it, the band said: “Famous Last Words’ is a rumination about purpose – the realisation that any notion of inherent, and/or divine, purpose is false and subsequently the futile, scrambled attempts to forge meaning in places where meaning can never really be found.”

I’ll be completely honest: I didn’t like this song at first says lead singer Percy Junior Cobbinah, it had a voice that was just a little too rough and ready, the overall production felt a little too paired back, and nothing about the song especially grabbed me.

But then the chorus got stuck in my head while I was making lunch. It’s always the silliest of things, I suppose. So I went back and listened to it again. And then another time. By the fifth time, I was converted, and I now I see it as a solid electro-rocker that isn’t bombastic or spastic, but rather low-key and supremely cool. For a song that features a fair amount of rave-tastic electronic effects, it’s oddly relaxing, and it really benefitted from multiple replays and loops.

Low Hummer Announce Debut LP 'Modern Tricks For Living', Stream "The People, This Place"

Hull post punk/alt band Low Hummer have announced the release of their highly-anticipated debut album 'Modern Tricks For Living'.

The 10-track album was recorded with producer Matt Peel at The Nave studio and will be out on September 17th via Dance To The Radio, featuring their excellent new single "The People, This Place". Pre-order your copy here.

Low Hummer write about their life in deepest darkest East Yorkshire and their place in a world of consumerism and bad news stories sold as gospel. Daniel, Aimee, Steph, Jack, John and Joe came together from the far corners of the city’s tight knit DIY community, established a regular rehearsal home in iconic DIY venue The New Adelphi Club and set about honing their righteous, danceable garage rock before announcing themselves in late 2019 and introducing the world to Low Hummer - this band of misfits from a town left behind.

Fropm the band : "Written and recorded over what has been possibly the strangest year of our lives, we’ve realised more and more how grateful we are for the opportunity to record a bloody album with our best mates. We just hope it’s better than our Banana Bread."

"Our album of isolation during such overwhelming times. The record captures how us bunch of misfits have felt isolated from popular culture, isolated from love, and how we all have been getting through physical isolation! ‘Modern Tricks for Living’ does not provide any kind of wisdom for navigating through modern society, but maybe just shows how a bunch of strangers from Hull get by. ‘The People This Place’ was the final piece we needed to make ‘Modern Tricks For Living’ complete so it feels like the person song to launch the album with."

New Entry: Strangely Enough Unveils New Single "Are You More?"

Melbourne/Brisbane-based indie rock artist Strangely Enough (aka multi-instrumentalist Greg Olley) has unveiled his new single "Are You More?".

The song is taken from his upcoming debut EP 'Stories You Tell Yourself', which will be available on June 18. Get it here.

Seething with hypnotic synth – created by an old, home-recorded vocal sample –, rubbery basslines and a fast, punctuated drum beat, 'Are You More?' makes for a palpitating, anxiety-inducing number. Grounding the track however is Olley with his soaring vocals and introspective lyrics that ingeniously explores social injustices and world wide crises. Olley passionately states:

"This song started off being about climate change; a reflection on how easy it is to just not think about it but all the while knowing that your actions are contributing to this looming existential threat. As I was writing it the world went through multiple crises of our own making: racism, sexism, mass extinction, all of which are ongoing. I began to wonder how this time and my generation would be looked back on. Past generations sometimes seem unbelievably flawed, but here we are making terrible mistakes, the injustices of our society laid bare."

New Entry: SYBS Share New Single "Llygaid"

Cardiff post punk/indie rock band SYBS have shared their new single "Llygaid".

The song will be out on June 4 through Libertino Records.

‘Llygaid’ is an exhilarating change of pace for a band whose adrenaline fulled anthems have made them one of Wales’ most exciting acts. Here Osian (Singer / Guitarist) and the band take us down a more reflective, jangly and at times bucolic and beautifully melancholic road.....plus it has Tubular Bells on it, an EXTRA reason to love it unconditionally!!

Osian explains the background to ‘Llygaid’: “I wrote this song during my first year of Uni, and was definitely a change of pace for me writing wise. A lot of the songs I was writing at the time where very dancey and energetic so it felt good to do a song that was more inward looking, and the lyrics definitely reflect this and generally encapsulate those last few weeks of my first year in uni.

It’s really weird listening back to this one because we recorded the final bits and bobs literally a day before I went home for lockdown, a little over a year ago, which makes it even more nostalgic to me. Hopefully I’ll get to make some more memories playing this song live very soon!”

Brighton-based indie rock quarter FUR have dropped their new single "The Fine Line Of A Quiet Life".

The song was produced by Theo Verney and is out today (May 20) via 777 MUSIC b/w "If Only". Grab it here.

From the band: "The Fine Line of a Quiet Life is a documentation of mixed messages you give yourself and take from others about where you feel you should be in your life, and where you’re at. It’s about self reflection and understanding. It’s about detaching yourself from situations you’ve already been in and know the outcome of. Much like growing up, you learn not to do certain things and slowly but surely you learn that there’s a ‘fine line’ of what lifestyle becomes acceptable the older you get and also what you can hack as an adult (that maybe doesn’t feel too much like one). The feeling of regret and ‘how could I be so blind’ that everyone has felt in relationships that really only comes out once it’s done is something that also goes hand in hand with a mutual respect for a collapsed relationship, and that there’s no undoing of things you’ve done and it’s best to just move on and suck it up."

POND Announce New LP '9', Share New Single/Video "America's Cup"

Australian psychedelic-pop/rock band POND have announced the release of their new album '9'.

The follow-up to 2019's Tasmania, was produced by POND, and mixed by James Ireland & Jay Watson, it will be out on October 1st via Spinning Top Records. Pre-order your copy here.

Speaking about the record, bandleader Nick Allbrook said: “We sort of gave ourselves permission to make something stuffed this time. We’d settled into a pretty tight routine with the last few albums and wanted to shake a boat with this so we started off with filling a few tape reels with some absolutely heinous improvised sonic babble which, after much sifting, became the first few songs of the album. We also wanted to up the tempo.”

“The last few albums have a neat little mantra or repetitive theme. If I was forced to find something like that in 9, I guess it would be ‘biography’ or ‘observation’ — a lot of the lyrics seem to focus on single people’s lives, or the lives of small moments or small things when you zoom real close up and they reveal something deeper. Stuff like my cheap Chinese slippers, or a soiled teddy bear, or Agnes Martin (not to put them in the same category, although maybe Agnes would’ve appreciated it). In the Rorschach test of re-reading lyrics, one thing that sticks out is a fixation on leaving behind a time of golden optimism and uncynical abandon. We can’t look at ourselves the same anymore, and the world we’ve built provides a scary lense for viewing our past.”

Of the new single "America's Cup", he said: "The beat makes me think of a New York street strut, Sesame Street style. But it’s about Fremantle before Alan Bond gave the big ball of gentrification its final shove, when it was cheap and harsh and the broken relics of the pre-87 port city were young, groovy cats in a secret idyll wedged between the river and the sea. It’s also about blokes being different versions of whatever the hell we’ve been taught we’re supposed to be."
