Watch: Double Helix Premiere New Single/Video "Doppelgänger"

London-based electronic duo Double Helix composed by Patrick Smith (Synths, Programming, Vocals), Kim Engelhardt (Bass Guitar) have premiered the video for their hypnotic new single "Doppelgänger".

The song, the follow up to debut single ‘Rat Rave’ (Slow Dance Records, January 2022), will be out on June 21 as part of the debut compilation from Ransom Note sub label Human Endeavour. Pre-order it here.

Doppelgänger is further drawing from the well of club-oriented influences, it is reminiscent of acid electronica of the 90’s, pitting the iconic sound of the Roland 303 against darker industrial tones, balearic synths and a relentless, pulsating motorik beat.

The accompanying music video is also a striking visual companion to the track. Shot and directed by the band themselves, it evokes a cinematic sensation not unlike a Gaspar NoƩ nightmare, with violent red strobes and a surrealist detachment. Dancer and performance artist Giorgia Pirozzi contorts and bends her body, creating intoxicating blurs of motion, whilst the bass is pounding like an anxious palpitation.

AUS!Funkt Release Debut LP 'Turn To Rust', Air Video For Title Track

Toronto-based art-disco/post punk/electro quartet AUS!Funkt have released their highly-anticipated debut album 'Turn To Rust'.

The record is out today (June 15) and features some tracks from previous EPs and 5 new tracks, 61 minutes of pure post-punk/dark disco/electro funk/psych-goth/techno-surf magic. Get your copy here.

Rejecting the lyrical and musical excesses of rock music, AUS!Funkt combines the groove of electronic music with the subversive aggression of post-punk. The lyrics, spoken and sung, provoke the mind with their realism and repetition. Electronic beats seduce the body into movement, freeing it from its torpor. On top, the guitar spurts out clouds of noise, while the bass supplies the melody. AUS!Funkt assaults the senses and uneases the mind while you dance to its unsettling disco beats.

The band have also aired the video for the album's title track "Turn to Rust" featuring Prince Amponsah. "Prince is an incredible actor/artist, who was lost both hands and was severely burnt in a devastating house fire. His personal story perfectly aligns with the atmosphere of the video and the message of the song – moving away from something that once was and embracing what is and what is to come, no matter how hard that is. And here he is in our video in all his amazingness." They said.

Check out the album's tracklist and watch the video for "Turn to Rust", below.

Turn To Rust Tracklisting:
1. Set Yourself Free
2. She's Right Behind (Radio Edit)

7. Socialized (Radio Edit)
8. Matter Of Interpretation
9. No Claim
10. Turn To Rust

New Entry: Wombo Release New single "Snakey"

Louisville, KY indie rock/post punk/psych band Wombo have released their new single "Snakey".

The song is taken from their new upcoming album 'Fairy Rust', which will be out on July 29 through Fire Talk. Pre-order your copy here.

‘Fairy Rust,’ contemplates the spaces in-between, a meeting of the physicality of the land with the fluidity of the imagination, to uncanny effect. Across twelve tracks, sharpened guitar work, distorted freakouts and downtempo musings see the trio make a sonic leap forward into new and transformative places. Conceived over the course of the last two years, the record is steeped in its own time warp of escapism, and influenced by fairytales like the Brothers Grimm and Hans Christian Anderson (“RVG” is short for “Rip Van Winkle”) that blend surreal situations with the mundane. ‘Fairy Rust’ plays on this preoccupation with fantasy (“especially in a time where people are seeming to gravitate towards these kinds of stories”), and the resulting record sounds like no one else.

Watch: LIFE Reveal New Single/Video "The Drug"

British indie rock/pop band Life have revealed the video for their new single "The Drug".

The song is taken from their upcoming new album ‘North East Coastal Town’, which will be out on August 19. Pre-order it here

Of the track, the band say: 'The Drug is a love song. I wrote the lyrics in the cold mountains of Italy before taking them into the room with the band. ''The Drug I needed has always been here, the drug I needed has always been near'' is, for me, realising that loved ones and those that love you, no matter where you are, can always be present. I'd never really believed this before and whilst this purity is at the lyrical heart of the song musically the band decided to inject flecks of dance, pop, harmonics, and dirty pulses to give the song drive, repetition and jerk-ability.'

The video features various artists and friends from the creative community within Shirethorn House; a commune of artists who have taken residency in the derelict building in Hull’s city centre. The film is a Stew Baxter and Luke Hallett production.

Watch: Cool Sounds Drop New Single/Video "Hello, Alright, You Got That?"

Melbourne indie/jangle pop band Cool Sounds have dropped the video for their brand new single "Hello, Alright, You Got That?".

The song is taken from their forthcoming fifth studio album 'Like That', set to be released on October 7 via Chapter Music. Pre-order your copy here.

Cool Sounds fuse jangle-pop sparkle with a supercharged disco-glam stomp on their new album, resulting in something immediate and irresistible.

'Hello, Alright, You Got That?' combines wry, acerbic lyrics with bright, unstoppable pop-funk, finding a sweet spot between Ian Dury & the Blockheads, Hot Chip and 80s 12” mixes by Francois K.

Cool Sounds polymath Dainis Lacey plays almost everything on the record, with a little help from friends like multi-instrumentalist Dylan Young, saxophonist Pierce Morton and German-born vocalist Ambrin Hasnain (with whom Dainis also plays in Partner Look).

About 'Hello, Alright', Dainis says – “My dad was a fan of that brief period in the early 80s where British punks embraced disco. His uni soccer team sang Ian Dury’s Sex and Drugs and Rock n Roll after a win. I searched for a parallel in my own timeline and arrived at 2010-ish indie dance, which holds an equal amount of nostalgia but still stings with the aftertaste of being able to remember too many details from ‘indie club nights’. I think Hello, Alright borrows from both of these memories.”

Watch: GUM Unveils Music Video For "Ancients"

Australian psych-pop musician Jay Watson (member of Tame Impala and Pond) side-project GUM has unveiled a new video for "Ancients".

The song is taken from the reissues of his albums Delorean Highway (2014) and Glamorous Damage (2015), out Friday 8 July via Spinning Top Records.  Grab it here.

The founding member of Pond and touring member of Tame Impala will share his seminal debut and second studio album, newly remastered by Kevin Parker.

The futuristic video for Ancients (from Glamorous Damage) was created by Baltimore animator Jake Armstrong, run the gauntlet on the ultimate battle of chess across alternating 3D space portals. GUM says of the forthcoming releases, “I recorded Delorean Highway and Glamorous Damage in my early 20’s. They were my first attempts at writing, recording and mixing music on my own, so while there are parts of them that I find awkward and hard to listen to, I’m also really proud of them. They’re like looking at old photos, youthful exuberance and embarrassment all at once. Finally anyone who wants to own them on vinyl can, there were only 500 copies made of each at the time they were released and they’ve been out of print for a while now.”.
