Black Nite Crash Unveil New Single/Video "Sugarwave"

Seattle garage pop/psych band Black Nite Crash have unveiled the video for their brand new single "Sugarwave".

The song "a driving, melodic take on indie-rock influenced post-punk," is taken from the EP 'Washed in the Sound with Black Nite Crash', set to be released on October 14th. Pre-order your copy here.

“The lyrics started out as scenes from a dream wherein my husband pulled some rather out-of-character capers,” Claire Tucker explains. “It got me thinking about dreams he’s told me about, where I did strange or terrible things, and what that might mean about our perception of each other — and even whether there was some hidden truth to the dreams. The song eventually developed into an impression of the gap between people’s true internal selves and how everyone else perceives us, and the attempt to bridge that gap, impossible as it may be. But the desire to be known can be at odds with the allure of likes and compliments and approvals and little dopamine hits — and that’s the Sugarwave.”

"The energy of the song is undeniable - we can't keep still while playing it. We haven't done anything quite like it in a while. It's another piece on the new record that feels, for us, like a bit of a departure from the last few albums. We've been trying to let the songs just come and guide us rather than trying to force things to sound like some preconceived notion of what the band should sound like".

Watch: Soft Plastics Air New Single/Video "Day Job"

Wellington, New Zealand shoegaze/alt/garage pop band Soft Plastics have aired the video for their brand new single "Day Job".

Soft Plastics, made up of Sophie Scott-Maunder (she/her), Jonathan Shirley (he/him), and Laura Robinson (she/her), their music takes influence from 90s shoegaze, and 2010's alt-rock. Offering a masterclass in converting fuzz, noise and reverb into nostalgic garage pop hooks.

'Day Job' perfectly encapsulates the tense frustration of succumbing to the nine-to-five system and leaves plenty of room for a little tongue-and-cheek. The video, directed by Stella Reid, reinforces the idea that it all shouldn't be taken too seriously.

“The song is ripe for comedy, and thankfully Soft Plastics had the same lightbulb idea I did - let's see someone with an utterly thrilling job who is just as bored of it as we are of ours. An assassin still has to get up in the morning, and they probably have paperwork. Or time allocated to disposing of paperwork probably. Either way, It'd be a unique watch to see the ins and outs of somebody with an adrenaline filled job." says Stella.

The  fuzzy psychedelic 6-piece invoke the "90s does 60s" vibe. Come for the strong melodies and soaring guitar lines and stay for the explosive live show with an emphasis on dancing and general good times.

Rearrange is a commentary on day to day priorities and how the constant moving puzzle pieces can create a very different picture from one day to the next. The single is a mixture of lo fi and hi fi production, again mirroring the message in the song.

Watch: Spacey Jane Unleash Music Video For "Sitting Up"

Perth garage pop/indie rock band Spacey Jane have unleashed the video for their latest single "Sitting Up".

The song is part of our current playlistand is taken from their sophomore full-length album 'Here Comes Everybody', set to arrive on June 10 via AWAL. Pre-order your copy here.

Caleb’s vocals are vulnerable and yearning as he sings about events close to his heart: " I wrote this about the way I was feeling and behaving when I was in my final semester of uni before dropping out. I left quite unceremoniously by not showing up to any of my final exams or handing in final assessments. I had no idea who I was, I was seriously depressed and completely spinning out. I felt like I’d created this terrible façade of myself for all of these people that I knew and that really I hadn’t been myself around someone or been truthful about my feelings in years. I didn’t care about my life or what I was doing to my body, I thought I was going to end up dead if I didn’t fix something. I felt like I was the only one going through those feelings and even though that wasn’t true, it made me feel so alone."

Spacey Jane Announce Debut LP 'Sunlight', Stream "Sitting Up"

Perth garage pop/indie rock band Spacey Jane have announced the release of their sophomore full-length album 'Here Comes Everybody'.

The follow-up to 2020's debut Sunlight, first came to life at the start of the lockdowns in 2020, it takes its title from the working title of Wilco’s seminal album Yankee Hotel Foxtrot – Jeff Tweedy himself writing to the band with his blessing to borrow the phrase - and will be out on June 10 via AWAL. Pre-order your copy here.

Lead singer Caleb Harper talks through the themes of Here Comes Everybody. “Our first record (Sunlight) discussed personal experiences of mine and it was a blessing to see how many people related to those stories. I want this record to be for youth persevering and thriving emotionally under the weight of our generational burden made up of climate change, COVID etc. Feeling like you have the responsibility of your entire future on your shoulders without any say in what happens creates anxiety and uncertainty. I think COVID took away the sense of unity that gives young people assurances in such times. I know music isn’t a replacement for taking control and galvanizing positive change, but I hope this record can soundtrack some of those moments in people’s lives.”

New Single ‘Sitting Up’ encapsulates that Spacey Jane sound: crisp, crystalline guitars, indelible pop melodies and a dash of melancholia that seeps through every pore of the track.

Watch: Thyla Air New Single/Video "Kin"

Brighton guitar pop/alt/psych band Thyla have aired the video for their new single "Kin".

The song is taken from their long-awaited self-titled debut album out today (January 28) via Easy Life Records. Get your copy here.

Speaking about it, lead singer Millie Duthie says: “‘Kin’ is about the feeling of pressure to prove yourself to friends and family. The amount of times each of us have gone home or out with old friends and the first question has been ‘Are you still working in the café?’ to which the answer still remains an awkward, ‘eh…yes.’ There are psychological benchmarks of success we all feel like we should hit, and we’re all guilty of mapping out our future timelines and expectations. The reality is that there really isn’t anything further from the truth. Life is unpredictable, it weaves and bobs, it meanders and sometimes sprints, but each path is unique and incomparable.”
