New Entry: Public Body Premiere New Single "Hard to Concentrate"

Brighton post punk/alt band Public Body have premiered their new single "Hard to Concentrate".

The song is taken from their upcoming debut EP 'Flavour of Labour', which will be out in next year via Six Tonnes De Chair Records. Get it here.

Speaking about it frontman Seb Gilmore says: “This song was written back when I was in my old job which was in an open plan office. The canteen was on the top floor and also had a balcony that I’d sit on to eat lunch.”

“I’d always end up eating too much – I’m an emotional eater – and then subsequently suffer a carb crash while sitting at the computer doing the most repetitive job, trying to not fall asleep. I miss it to be honest, the balcony, not the job.”

New Entry: Sweeping Promises Drop New Single "Pain Without a Touch"

Lawrence, Kansas post punk/new wave duo Sweeping Promises have dropped their new single "Pain Without a Touch".

The song is out today, November 17 via via Feel It Records and Sub Pop, and is the first new music after the 2020 release of their astonishing, acclaimed debut album "Hunger for a Way Out". Buy it here.

From the band: “Pain Without a Touch” is the first song to emerge out of our songwriting mania (and if you caught us on tour in the states these past few weeks, you just might recognize this one). It’s a frantic attempt to identify and target needs and desires without skipping a beat on the hamster wheel…and finding out just how foolhardy that is."

New Entry: Stay Lunar Share New Single "Anywhere/Everywhere"

Swindon/Bristol indie pop band Stay Lunar have shared their new single "Anywhere/Everywhere".

The song is out today (November 17) via SAM Records. Grab it here.

Speaking about it, frontman Harry Leith said: “As we headed towards winter 2020 it felt as though the bad news was multiplying and nothing was going in our favour. With the bad weather approaching and lockdown looming, the only way I knew how to escape was to try to make light of the situation through music. I imagined my home filling with all these bad luck omens like some sort of weird Disney movie, and joked ironically with the idea that maybe if I just start breaking mirrors, putting my umbrella up inside and walking under ladders then that will somehow trick the universe into malfunctioning and providing good luck and summer weather. It didn’t work, but in ways it did, because ‘Anywhere / Everywhere’ was born.”

The 12-track record will be out on March 4th 2022 on Heist or Hit, featuring their new single "Ever Changing", and their previous track "Reno". Pre-order your copy here.

Lyricist Tom O’Reilly notes, “At that time I was finding myself in a lot of situations with self-involved characters that I had no interest in, purely because they’re an easy distraction from everything I didn’t want to think about. I kept jumping from toxic relationships to chaotic friendships without thinking I could take a step back and centre myself to actually tackle real problems. ‘Ever Changing’ is about burying my head in the sand and avoiding real issues in my life. It’s about finding new ways to procrastinate and change to make each day feel more exciting than it really is.”

The song is out today (Nov 17) and is the first taste of their upcoming third studio album. Grab it here

From the band: “Friends Without Names is the anchor and blueprint for our next record. In a remote part of Eastern England, close to the river Humber, we performed this track as if we were in trance; vibrating in a constant musical crescendo. Our aim was to push ourselves and harness differing time zones whilst giving in to the moments of beauty, horror, love and chaos depicted by the song’s lyrics.”

New Entry: Deserta Releases New Single "Goodbye Vista"

Los Angeles-based dream pop/shoegaze artist Deserta (aka Matthew Doty) has released his new single "Goodbye Vista".

The song is taken from his forthcoming second album 'Every Moment, Everything You Need', which will be available on February 25 through Felte Records. Pre-order your copy here.

For Doty, Deserta has always been about exploring a sonic universe that allows him to express a kaleidoscope of emotions, without having to say much at all. Through a patchwork of reverb-tinged textures – drone guitars, lingering synths and driving percussion – the singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist weaves together stories of care, frustration and catharsis that ultimately stretch to a gentle resolve. On new album Every Moment, Everything You Need, Doty chronicles the kind of year we all fear, full of uncertainty, tension and sustained pressure, and transforms it into a celebration of perseverance. It’s an essential reminder that we have the power to shape the stories we tell.

When discussing "Goodbye Vista," Doty explains: "While writing this album I tried to balance the idea of putting myself out there a little more with the consideration that these songs would need to be performed live, loud and with a full band. The vocal melodies are some of the most vulnerable performance-wise, but the chorus just wasn’t the same without that lift."

The new record comes mixed by David Fridmann (Tame Impala, MGMT, Flaming Lips, Mogwai), engineered by Chris Coady (TV On The Radio, Amen Dunes, Slowdive) with drums provided by James McAliser (The National, Taylor Swift, Big Red Machine).

For fans of Slowdive, DIIV, Electric Youth, The Cure, My Bloody Valentine.

New Entry: The New Division Drops New Single "Soft Sell"

LA-based new wave/synthpop/electronic artist John Glenn Kunkel aka The New Division has dropped his new single "Soft Sell".

Kunkel words: "I wrote this song over the course of about 8 months (on and off). I really had no idea how this song would turn out. Over time I had this idea of bridging an M83esque vibe with classic 80s Depeche Mode/New Order (surprise surprise) which is quite clear in its final form. The lyrics are loosely based off a lot of different films that deal with stopping someone from committing a heinous crime. As always, this song had a lot of input by my good friend @fjdesanto (aka @tradesecretsofficial) who always puts the music into a perspective that only elevates the final form.".

The song is out now, get it here and take a listen below.
