The Orielles Drop New Single/Video "The Room"

Halifax//Liverpool disco pop/post-dance/surf band The Orielles have dropped the video for their new single "The Room".

The song is part of our current playlist and is taken from their third studio album 'TABLEAU', which will be out in October 7th through Heavenly Recordings. Pre-order your copy here.

The double album rewards serious immersion, as complex as it is diverse. Initially, there might appear to be little that links the Sonic Youth dirge of Television with the spectral, beatless Some Day Later. Or tracks like Hornflower Remembered and The Room, which carry the influence of the 21st century dance the band have been devouring, with the challenging extended song suite that makes up the album’s A-side. Further listening, however, reveals recurring motifs and sonic ideas that bind the album’s sixteen tracks together closely.

New Entry: The Orielles Premiere New Single "Space Samba (Disco Volador Theme)"

Halifax//Liverpool post-dance/surf/garage psych band The Orielles have premiered their catchy new single "Space Samba (Disco Volador Theme)".

The song is taken from their band's upcoming sophomore album 'Disco Volador', which will be out on 28th of February through Heavenly Recordings. Pre-order your copy here.

The band's words: "Space Samba is a song about corporeal experience, something which we feel we are collectively losing sight of in an age of mental existentialism! It is the 'Disco Volador' theme because it relates to the phenomenological thread of the whole album, which tackles the many interpretations of the title throughout. In this instance, it refers to Disco Volador’s literal translation of ‘flying disc’ or ‘frisbee’, using this symbol to reflect both feelings of flight and motion and the notion of human connectivity."

The Orielles Announce New LP 'Disco Volador', Stream "Come Down On Jupiter"

Halifax//Liverpool post-dance/surf/garage psych band The Orielles have announced the release of their brand new album 'Disco Volador'.

The  follow-up to 2018's debut Silver Dollar Moment, will be out via Heavenly Recordings on February 28th, and sees the 4-piece push their sonic horizon to its outer limits as astral travellers, hitching a ride on the melodic skyway to evade the space-time continuum through a sharp collection of progressive strato-pop symphonies. Pre-order your copy here.

Voyaging through cinematic samba, 70s disco, deep funk boogies, danceable grooves and even tripping on 90s acid house, Disco Volador is set to propel The Orielles spinning into a higher zero-gravity orbit. Written and recorded in just 12 months, it captures the warp-speed momentum of their post-Silver Dollar Moment debut album success; an unforgettable summer touring, playing festivals like Green Man and bluedot, Disco Volador’s library catalogue vibes stem from a band lapping up and widening their pool of musical discovery whether nodding to Italian film score maestros Sandro Brugnolini and Piero Umiliani, or the Middle Eastern tones of Khruangbin and Altin Gün.

New Entry: The Orielles Premiere New Single "Bobbi's Second World"

Halifax//Liverpool post-dance/surf/garage psych band The Orielles have premiered their infectious new single "Bobbi's Second World".

The song b/w a cover of Peggy Gou's "It Makes You Forget (Itgehane)" is out now through Heavenly Recordings.

Written with the addition of a new member on keys, Bobbi's Second World, exhibits an explosion of new sounds and ideas that came to fruition after a long summer of playing festivals and taking inspiration from music that made us dance. It centres around the story of a cat named Bobbi who, in order to become a lady, has to experience the extremities of two complex and differing realities- situated in her front and back gardens respectively. The eccentric instrumentation, influenced by northern soul, post-punk and funk music, matches the quirkiness of the lyrics to create a song that concerns a young cats maturity whilst displaying a certain maturity in the music itself.

New Entry: The Orielles Unleash New Single "Let Your Dogtooth Grow"

Halifax//Liverpool post-dance/surf/garage psych band The Orielles have released their new single "Let Your Dogtooth Grow".

The song is the first single from their upcoming debut album 'Silver Dollar Moment' set for release in February 2018 through Heavenly Recordings.

Taking influence from Lanthimos’ abstruse, fictitious world where kids are brainwashed into thinking that they are confined within the boundaries of their household until their ‘Dogtooth’ falls out, the lyrics discuss how in reality, people our age face similar (albeit less bizarre) forms of oppression. Whilst we’re much more than a stones throw away from knocking our teeth out in order to break from the omnipresent restrictions us teenagers and young adults face, it’s still something that really bugs us as a ‘young band’! When are you gonna let us out of the house?
