AK/DK Announce New LP 'Shared Particles', Stream Title Track

Brighton electronic/synth/disco/punk duo AK/DK have announced the release of their third studio album 'Shared Particles'.

The follow-up to 2017's Patterns/Harmonics, "celebrates their undeniable connection as humans, all sharing the same particles from the beginning of time - still true during a moment when we can feel more separated than ever."

It will be out on November 27 via Little Miss Echo Recordings. Pre-order your copy here.

Shared Particles propels itself relentlessly forwards, thrusting onwards in pursuit of a finish point that may never come. The two-piece have always loved the motorik of the 70’s like Kraftwerk and Can, bands that revelled in the journey as much as the destination. They also describe themselves as “like a chunkier Devo” – and, yes, there’s a warmth to the textures of their music from the modular synths and other self-built pedals in their set up, while there’s a driving rhythmic constancy too.

“Really, though, our message is one of togetherness and unity,” the band says. “It’s always a strong political message in itself when people come together for music.”

Ultimately it’s that message that holds the band and their music together. As the name Shared Particles suggests, we are all as one living together, and this is music that could’ve found a home everywhere from rave and free party scene to the punk community. AK/DK’s initial ethos was to break down the invisible screen between stage and audience. They’ve always tried to capture that on record, and this is the closest they’ve come… so far.

Check out the album's tracklist and listen to the title track and their previous single "Feeds" below.

Soft Kill Announce New LP 'Dead Kids, R.I.P. City', Stream "Roses All Around"

Portland, OR post punk/dark wave band Soft Kill have announced the release of their new album 'Dead Kids, R.I.P. City'.

The follow up to 2018's Savior, was produced by David Trumfio (Built To Spill, Wilco, OK Go) and mastered by the legendary Howie Weinberg (The Cure, Smashing Pumpkins, Nirvana), and will be out on  November 20th via Cercle Social Records. Pre-order your copy here.

A story odyssey of sorts told in ten parts, ten songs - each track essentially a character - the album, explores, through a beguiling mix of personal memory, allegory, and narrative structures by turns both poetic and stinging, a long and complicated relationship with a dark version of Portland OR. It’s songs that tell of the fractured and fragile legacies of those lost during the city’s last couple decades as it moves from soggy backwater to unheard of growth and tech-fueled transformation.

Two years in the making, desperate, redemptive, its contrast of  light and shadow favoring the latter, Dead Kids, R.I.P. City is like no other album in the genre, a kind of doom pop Drugstore Cowboy featuring the brave and abandoned, the tender and the afflicted, all teetering in memory on the edge of the city. For all the sadness and pain of addiction haunting it, however, the record, by its very existence, proves that hope doesn’t necessarily win but that, even if at great cost, it can. It’s what makes Dead Kids, R.I.P. City so powerful beyond just the scope of its dark luminous sound and indelible melodies, and is one of the many reasons you’ll carry it with you.

Check out the album's tracklist and watch the video for their new single "Roses All Around", below.

Dead Kids, R.I.P. City Tracklist:
01. Roses All Around
02. Wanting War
03. Matty Rue (feat. Adam Klopp)
04. Floodgate (feat. Tamaryn)
05. Crimey
06. Pretty Face

A driven, upbeat, indie track, with big choruses and is an earworm that will get stuck in your head all day; touching on the understanding and empathy of relationship struggles and communicating with others about feelings. The song is part of our current playlist and is taken from the band's forthcoming new album, set to be released soon via Wave Records. Grab it here.

The visuals developed for the song is my interpretation of the Jenni Sex's music, to me this song is about hope and the cycles we go through in life, the path from darkness to light can be an ocean of deep feelings, a dark desert road which we don't know the end. Through all this quit is not an option so we keep going with flow, we float around moods and sensations, then we are destroyed from all the confusion that life can bring, and eventually we'll find our way. Watch: KOMFORTRAUSCHEN Drop "Dein Schweiss" (Sven Väth cover)

Berlin live techno band KOMFORTRAUSCHEN have dropped a new video performing their cover version of Sven Väth's 'Dein Schweiss'.

This is the first of three covers. Komfortrauschen started to record a series of cover songs that they love and which shaped the band. 'Dein Schweiss' was a hit around the year 2000. It was one of the very influential techno tracks at that time. Sven Väth pushed the genre and KOMFORTRAUSCHEN in the right direction. Thanks Sven!

The band creates the powerful sound of a techno DJ set in their very own analogue fashion with traditional instruments, filtered through an impressive array of pedals and effects. Imagine a punk band trapped inside a drum computer, the Prodigy being a Berghain resident, Richie Hawtin meets Rammstein. The pure ecstasy and machine accuracy of techno enriched with the fresh energy and playfulness of a live band. Since the band was formed in 2014, Komfortrauschen have played regularly in famous German clubs like Sisyphos, Kantine am Berghain and Kater Blau as well as all over Europe and beyond. Now they're about to hit the stages worldwide!

Spunsugar Detail Debut LP 'Drive-through Chapel', Stream "Belladonna"

Swedish shoegaze/alt band Spunsugar have shared full details for their highly anticipated  debut album 'Drive-through Chapel'.

Featuring the previously shared single "Happier Happyless", the 11-track record will be out via Adian Recordings on Friday 2nd October. Pre-order your copy here.

The record outing sees them take on the dark and pulsing nature of the post-punk sound and deliver it through a completely new and diverse contemporary lens. Produced by Joakim Lindberg at Studio Sickan, Malmö, who has filled it with a rich and textured atmosphere running the length of this new collection, ‘Drive-Through Chapel’ sets itself as one of the most thunderous and anthemic offerings in the Adrian Recordings catalogue.

They are more often compared to Curve, Swervedriver or Ringo Deathstarr rather than the likes of Cocteau Twins or Slowdive. Although heavy on effects, nothing is hidden within the music, including the lyrics. The lyrics are heavy with pop cultural references, stemming from Cordelia’s love for obscure genre films. Often driven by riffs rather than soundscapes, they focus equally on having a prominent bass as well as prominent guitars.

“We call ourselves an alternative rock band with shoegaze influences. Sound wise, imagine if Alternative Nation on MTV 1997 and a drum machine fall into a cotton candy machine. The cotton candy wheel breaks and derails. We grew up farmer offsprings, bible belt kids of fundamentalists and trailer trash in small towns of Sweden. These are our references and this shapes our sound.” – Spunsugar

The band have also shared their new single "Belladonna," a Shoegaze pop tune about suicide you can dance to? Why yes, Belladonna is a nice sing-a-long song about questions about whether those suicidal thoughts are hereditary or if you’re just depressed because you’ve seen your parent not wanting to live anymore. About not feeling that you’re worthy of love. And what a banger it is! The first single by Spunsugar that showcases the singing chops of bass player Felix, who sings in unison with lead singer Elin in the chorus. Keep your ear out for the parts where all three members are singing at the same time. The closest to Beach Boys Spunsugar has ever been.

Check out the album's tracklist and listen to "Belladonna", below.

Drive-Through Chapel Tracklist:
01. Jawbreaker
02. Happier Happyless
03. Where You Run Through
04. Belladonna
05. Time Enough At Last
06. Video Nasty
07. Run
08. Dial Up Tone
09. Native Tongue
10. I Shouldn’t Care
11. Wishes
