Watch: Death By Denim Unleash "Small World" Music Video

Perth-based rock/synth/indie band Death By Denim have unleashed the video for their newest single "Small World".

The song is part of our current playlist and is the first taste of their forthcoming sophomore album. Buy it here.

‘I’m in my room, my bank account is quite low, I’m cut up over a relationship ending, lacking self-esteem, a bit sick and just generally trying to figure out what I’m doing with my life. Things haven’t gone the way I wanted in certain areas – so I wrote this song,’ says lead guitarist and songwriter Palle Mazzulla. ‘I am very fortunate that my problems don’t compare to what’s going on in the world right now thanks to the pandemic, but they still feel heavy.’

‘Small World’ is the band’s first release of 2021 and showcases a step up in emotional maturity for the group. Tapping into feelings of social anxiety and inadequacy, the song explores the crushing weight that a failure to confront personal issues can have on a person’s psyche.

‘For this new release we really focused on getting back in touch with what’s going on in all of our lives, getting more personal with our lyrics and have them shine through,’ says Palle. ‘Small World really stood out in the studio and the addition of a 12-string guitar was something we hadn’t done before. Nik fully explored his vocal range before the last chorus and just poured his heart into the whole performance,’ he adds.

Watch: Capitol Return With New Single/Video "Always Saying Nothing"

Canadian new wave/post punk/dream pop band Capitol have returned with their brand new single "Always Saying Nothing" and its accompanying video.

The song will be out tomorrow (June 18) and is taken from their forthcoming new EP 'All The Rest Of My Heads', which will arrive on September 17th via Meritorio Records. Get it here.

The introspective nature of the lyrics is set at deliberate odds with the musical confidence on show, as the band explain the words are, “meant to stand in contrast with the bright, steady beat of the 80s dance track”. Musically, the track is a thrilling blast of sound, a modern genre-blurring collision of new New Wave and indie-pop, with swirling guitars cut through by the thrilling, jarring crash of the snare drum. The irony here is a song about failing to communicate can also be one that really makes a connection, it channels a universal feeling, one that might just find a lot more people hanging off Captiol’s every word.

New Entry: Cor de Lux Share New Single "Whose Side"

North Carolina post punk/dream pop band Cor de Lux have shared their new single "Whose Side".

The song is taken from their forthcoming their upcoming album 'Media'. Get it here.

Whose Side is a deceptively simple premise. Peppered with droll spoken word an ethereal banshee howl repeatedly asking the titular line, the politically-charged philosophical number boasts trickles of garage, a progressive fury. There is a nod to the haunting chanson gothique duets of Lee Hazlewood and Serge Gainsbourg, but the atmospheric hooks and Dawn’s breathy vocals echo Sonic Youth, Fugazi, and the Pixies.
