Low Hummer Return With New Single "Panic Calls"

Hull post punk/alt band Low Hummer have returned with their new single "Panic Calls".

The song, produced by Matt Peel (W.H. Lung, Eagulls), is out now via Dance To The Radio and is their first new material since their 2021 debut LP 'Modern Tricks For Living'. Buy here.

The band's statement reads: “There was a sort of conversation floating in the air that inspired the lyrics of Panic Calls. Dan and I wrote as though we were trying to ring crisis lines; the discourse of the song shifts between us trying to explain our feelings, then always being met with generic, automated responses. The intention was to sort of mirror the futility of mental health support, and, hopefully, show how relatable that issue is.”

iamnoone Unleash New Single/Video "Empty Hours"

Italian post punk/coldwave/alt duo iamnoone  (comprised of Philippe Marlat and Seth) have unleashed the video for their new single "Empty Hours".

The song is the third single taken from the album 'Dead Season', which will be out on November 26. Pre-order it here.

From the duo: The last couple of years have been a Dead Season for most of us. We discovered that things we deemed important were, in fact, of no consequence, or things we took for granted, like handshakes, hugs, kisses…were all lost for an unforeseeable long time. This Dead Season saw us changing the way we lived our music, too: once together, now apart; once playing, listening, dancing in the same room, now entrusting our notes to the Ether, like messages in bottles committed to the seas, in the hope whomever gets them, will understand their secret meaning.

These songs are the cries of our souls staring into the Abyss. The desperation, the frustration, the will not to break under extreme circumstances, but also the love, the hope to get soon back to a life we can look forward to. We dedicate these feelings to all the brave souls who are still fighting to make it through this Dead Season, and to those who didn’t make it.

EMF Share Music Video For "Crime of Passion"

English indie/alt band EMF have shared the video for their latest single "Crime of Passion".

The song is part of our current playlist and is taken from their album 'GO GO SAPIENS', their first since 1995, released back in April. Buy it here.

CRIME OF PASSION deals with what happens when you fall in love with someone that keeps on breaking your heart, EMF’s singer James Atkin cries out soulfully ‘What I’m feeling’! trying to make sense of a tangle of dangerous emotions.

James shows his versatility at the service of emotion and submission, the arrangement has hints of New Order and the Smiths, bands that formed EMF’s musical direction and a synth solo that wouldn’t be out of place on an 80’s dance floor.

L'objectif Return With New Single/Video "The Dance You Sell"

Leeds indie rock band L'objectif have returned with their new single "The Dance You Sell" and its accompanying video.

The song is out today (Sept 28) through Chess Club Records and follows the release of their EP 'We Aren’t Getting Out but Tonight We Might', back in June. Get it here.

Frontman Saul Kane says: “I noticed that some people, including myself, can desire for a past that didn’t serve them at all. It’s like a yearning for a place of comfort but that comfort can depress you. This is something I’m learning and I guess you can see it in the narrative of the song, going from words of passion and love to just a general distaste. You convince yourself you need to be ‘stuck’ in this place, even though you feel completely different to how you used to. It’s this comfort we find in dullness that sometimes stops people from moving forward.”

Gathering of Strangers Unleash "Red and Gold" Music Video

Manchester indie rock band/alt Gathering of Strangers have unleashed the video for their latest single "Red and Gold".

The song is part of our current playlist and came out last month (Aug 19), get it here. Described by the band as being about “having the time of your life with your lover or your family. Simply dancing from sunset to sunrise all night long”, that sense of sheer elation is palpable across the track’s runtime.

"My absolute favourite time of the day is just after sunset, and you have about five minutes when the sun has disappeared, but it has turned the whole sky a golden red. I wanted to capture my feelings during those 5 minutes and put it in a song" explains frontman Conor Rabone.

“Having come out of the pandemic and not being allowed to go anywhere. We felt this was absolutely necessary to write an upbeat, feel-good track to go hand in hand with this beautiful summer of freedom.”

Palm Unveil New Single/Video "On The Sly"

The song is taken from their upcoming album 'Nicks and Grazes', which will be out on October 14th through Saddle Creek. Pre-order your copy here.

'On the Sly' is one of the record’s most pop-forward songs. It came together in patchwork over many hours of aimless playing, resulting in a mesh of all of their respective musical impulses. The vocal melody is infectious and slippery, reminiscent of Brian Eno. “The words turned out a little sadder than intended but when we play this song I smile,” says guitarist/vocalist Eve Alpert. The surreal accompanying video, directed by Rich Smith, features the band performing while characters search for the source of a mysterious sound.

Western Column Drops New Single "Club Orange"

Glasgow dram pop act Western Column, the solo project of Dutch Wine guitarist Christopher Devine has dropped his new single "Club Orange".

The song is out today, September 23 via Negative Hope Records and flits between a pulsating head bopping basement indie dance energy and a hushed beauty, all the while maintaining that sun-washed dream pop vibe Western Column built with his singles to date.

Moving from strength to strength ‘Club Orange’ feels fuller and more confident than Western Column’s previous outings, Devine’s vocals come across more self assured yet maintain an almost settling hazy wonder, while the imaginative guitar work teeters a fine line between shoegaze wonder and star gazing bedroom pop.

Western Column is the DIY solo project of Christopher Devine, and sees the Dutch Wine guitarist go down his own path, while his band continue to build their own name, threading a dancey, sun kissed element to his an optimistic shoegazey sound going on instincts alone to create a sound true to himself.

“With ‘Club Orange’ there is a general feeling of everything that was going on at that time, it’s more an atmosphere than a specific topic.

“I've always liked really upbeat tunes that are still kind of sad, so it’s got a dancey groove with the drums and bass and then put some dream poppy guitars over it so it'd be like a kind of nice clash.

“I purely go off off a feeling, so everything I'm listening to combined and then whatever is exciting me, there's no other parameter or filter that it has to go through. I don’t ask myself would other people like this? Or is this cool? It’s purely, do I feel something for this?”

Take a look and you’ll find a mesmerising facade streaming right to your television screen. Business men frantically explode with emotion, demonstrating their ability to bring sight to the blind, shame to your heart and your hard earned money to their wallet. Firearms for Christ and a new family car. You could have it all and more, all it takes is the delivery of your bank details into the preacher man’s inbox. After all it’s what the Holy Spirit told her. “Sow your seed and watch what God does””.

TOM And His Computer Drops New Single/Video "Heart Blossom"

Denmark electronic/alt artist Thomas Bertelsen aka TOM And His Computer has dropped the video for his new single "Heart Blossom" feat. Cosette Gobat Cosette Gobat.

His new two track EP "Heart Blossom" / "Along Coastlines" is out now through Trentemøller's label In My Room. Get it here.

This new EP  sees him return in fine style, with two achingly beautiful pieces of music, displaying a slightly different musical style

"After taking a - in my standards - long break from making new music, I felt I needed to try something different from what I usually do." TOM explains. "The last two years have been a rollercoaster ride for most people and like most other people I wanted to get out of my comfort zone to explore some of my brighter sides of music making. I wouldn’t say the music style changed dramatically. I see it more as a natural progression and sonically speaking, I've always found it interesting to be somewhere on the borderline between bright and darkness."

Heart Blossom features the ethereal vocals of @Cosette Gobat . "Cosette," says TOM, "is a very versatile singer, originally from Philadelphia, now relocated to London. I got to know her when I was mixing a track for a super talented Italien guy named Gae Vinci. She was singing on that track and I instantly fell in love with her voice. She was up for a collaboration and things went on from there."

The production is, as always, sublime - with sparkling chords, touches of New Order’s early 80s melancholy and a shuffling drum track that underpins Cosette’s dreamy lyricism.

Along Coastlines is a beautiful counterpoint - synth washes,
effected guitars and fragments of melodies combine to produce a gorgeous piece of ambient expressionism.

The new single drops right in time for an extended live tour through North America where TOM And His Computer supports Trentemøller. "I’ve been fortunate to support Trentemøller on some of his previous tours and those tours have been some of the best experiences I've ever had.", says TOM. "Pure dedicated music lovers and very open minded. The people who go to these shows only go because they have a sincere interest in good quality indie music. As a support act I don’t believe you can ask for more."
