Watch: New Candys Premiere New Single/Video "Twin Mime"

Italian shoegaze/dark/new wave band New Candys have premiered the video for their new single "Twin Mime".

The song is taken from their forthcoming new album 'Vyvyd', which will be available on June 4 through Little Cloud Records / Dischi Sotterranei / Fuzz Club. Pre-order your copy here.

"It was the last song we wrote for the album. It plays with the meaning of duality, the connection between action and consequence, between who we really are and how we try to come off, and how we sometimes end up fooling ourselves. The volcanoes that appear in the music video refer to the terrestrial hell, and Earth’s fury towards humans".

Watch: L'objectif Unveil Debut Single/Video "Drive In Mind"

Leeds newcomers L'objectif have unveiled their debut single "Drive In Mind" and its accompanied video.

The song is out today (March 16) through Chess Club Records, get it here.

The band, a bunch of 16/17-year-old’s from West Yorkshire, are made up of schoolmates with a desire to forge music their own way. Frontman Saul Kane first formed a group with drummer Louis Bullock aged 12, and the duo are joined by bassist Ezra Glennon and guitarist Dan Richardson in L’objectif.

Speaking about the track, the band explain. “I started thinking about drive-in cinemas and those massive screens that they have with everyone parked watching the events of the film unfold. The idea of people coming to watch the contents of someone’s mind was interesting to me, the thoughts, anxieties and all the things you don’t want people to see exposed on a big screen.

“The lyrics are statements, ideas and observations that I was thinking around the time I wrote it, a cluster of thoughts exposed and amplified through song.”

New Entry: Home Counties Share New Single "White Shirt / Clean Shirt"

English indie rock/punk/alt band Home Counties have shared their new single "White Shirt / Clean Shirt".

The son is out today (March 16) via Alcopop Records. Grab it here.

Speaking about it, singer Will Harrison says: “‘White Shirt / Clean Shirt’ began life as a guitar-orientated number that was a staple of our live set last year at our first shows, but then we had sort of fell out of love with it. Through lockdown, as we started experimenting more heavily with synthesisers and drum machines; we reworked the song with these new influences and it found a new lease of life.

“The two singles are linked lyrically, both looking at working life under contemporary capitalism. ‘Yuppies’ was written about the destructive mentality of middle-class professionals – constantly wanting more success, more money and more consumer goods. ’White Shirt / Clean Shirt’ looks at the less aspirational, and more universal reality of office work. It voices that feeling of losing your sense of self and place as you go into work, dressed uniformly in a Next suit, in an indistinguishable space, staring at another spreadsheet. It’s also got a bit of a ‘how did I get here?’ sentiment, being at work thinking about what more aspirational (or more expensively educated) people might be doing. Ultimately, it voices a feeling of having ‘learnt to fall’, rather than taught to succeed – sinking into the safety net of unfulfilling white collar work.”

The song is taken from their highly-anticipated debut studio album ‘Bright Green Field’, set to be released on May 7th via Warp Records. Pre-order your copy here.

From the band: "Sharing ‘Paddling’ with you all. We started writing it when we were but kids still living in Brighton. Last summer we really got into playing this together again. Straight away we started to work the tune into new places whilst we were writing at the Old Road in Chippenham, the track became an important part of Bright Green Field for us."

"Recording Paddling was great, it was quite hot so naturally the tempo was upped a fair bit too.  Dan Carey’s modular synthesizer is definitely the 6th band member in this one, turning Louis & Anton’s guitars into racecars from about the 5 minute mark."
