San Francisco, CA dream pop/noise pop band Lavender Blush have announced the release of their second full-length album 'You Are My Moonlight'.

The follow-up to their 2020;s debut The Garden of Inescapable Pleasure, was mixed by Kyle Baudour and mastered by Simon Scott (of Slowdive), it will be released on January 28, 2022. Pre-order your copy here.

Ryan Lescure (vocals and guitar) began writing and recording the music for these songs during quarantine - a time where he was unable to gather with the rest of the band or access the rehearsal studio that contained most of his instruments. After a few months of home recording, he was able to access the rehearsal studio but still could not be joined by others. Because this made collaboration much more difficult, Lescure is the sole songwriter and instrumentalist on the recording.

Amelia Lauren, Sophia Campbell, and Ana Ramundo separately recorded vocal contributions that were later added to the mix.

New Entry: Sceti Release New Single "Dancing All Alone"

Sceti,  the new electronic/nu disco/synth project of Latvian Alisa Scetinina aka Gaisma and Rework have released their new single "Dancing All Alone".

The song is taken from their brand new EP 'Feel Alive', out tomorrow (September 3) via Exlove. Get it here.

Scetinina is a former ballet dancer at the Stuttgarter Ballet, and now an accomplished vocalist. She fronts this powerful new outfit which is produced by Playhouse and Exlove artists Rework aka Daniel Varga & Michael Kuebler. Between them, they cook up a unique vibe that straddles the lines between disco, new wave, indie, electro and synthpop. They do so with vintage synths, minimal drum machine patterns and dreamy soundscape-like vocals from Alisa.

The EP kicks off with the fantastic 'Feel Alive,' a deep-cut future-retro jam that oozes attitude. The deadpan vocals and stiff bassline make for an irresistible groove. Things cut loose with the elastic bass and deep cut guitar riffs of 'Sour Sweet,' a more sensuous and steamy track with a sense of fun. Next is the beautifully bittersweet 'It’s Not A Goodbye,' with sombre chords and melancholic vocals tugging at the heartstrings. Last, but not least are the soaring grooves and skyward synth-arps of the exquisite 'Dancing All Alone.' Here the vocals are detached and forlorn and deeply affecting and perfectly close out this package.

The Ninth Wave Unleash New Single/Video "Piece and Pound Coins"

Glasgow noise pop/post-punk band The Ninth Wave have unleashed the video for their new single "Piece and Pound Coins".

Speaking about it singer and guitarist Hadyn Park-Patterson says: "I wrote this song about a friend who passed away a number of years ago. I’ve never really felt like I could write about him for a few reasons, mainly because that for a long time, I wouldn’t have known what to write. It was only one day last year when he popped into my head that I felt myself wanting to write about him and the memories that we shared. I had stumbled across an old video that I remember laughing at with him (it’s a video called Piece & Pound Coins by a cartoonist called Davey Swatpaz) - it was the first proper night out that we became pals. From that moment, I got the first line of the song and the title. The rest of the song was written that afternoon. Writing about death is a world away from writing about heartache/love/friendship because there’s nobody to listen to the song and wonder “is that about me?”. It’s a strange feeling, to write a song about someone that you know can’t ever hear it.

At the time of writing the song, I was reading a book called “Tongs Ya Bas”; it’s a history of the most infamous Glasgow gangs and the things that they used to shout at each other before slashing each other with razors. “Come On Die Young” is one of these taunts and it’s where the first lyric of the chorus originated from; I just changed it to have a bit of a different meaning.

It also touches on the thought of wondering what he’d be up to now, 5 years on in his life, as well as letting out a bit of confused anger that I felt not long after he passed. I watched how some people reacted to his death and the way in which they talked about it. That’s the meaning behind the line “death makes some people sad and some people ugly and some people took your name for their own sake”.

Piece and Pound Coins is one of my favourite songs that I’ve written purely because I’m surprised I was able to write it and put into words the feelings that I’ve had for the last 5 years (it was 4 years when I wrote it). I like to think that he’d like it, as he was one of the most supportive and positive-minded people I’ve ever had the pleasure of knowing.  This song is for Gary Watson. Love ye forever."
