New Entry: The Lazy Eyes Unleash New Single "Tangerine"

Sydney-based psych pop band The Lazy Eyes have unleashed their catchy new single "Tangerine".

Talking about the song the band stated “Tangerine is the first original we ever learned to play. It’s funny looking back on it because the rhythm of the melody was so hard for everyone – especially poor Noah on the drums – to nail. Nowadays the song is a breeze and It would be weird if it wasn’t, considering we have played it more than any other song in the set. Harvey finds a new and inventive way at every show to make the guitar solo ‘interesting.’ Expect the unexpected from him. The recording came together slowly, adding layers one by one and producing it in our home studio. Sonically it’s still nostalgic of the time when we were just starting to learn to play with each other and really becoming a band.”

Capturing the laid-back essence of chillwave maestros like Neon Indian or Toro Y Moi, the track is also shot through with glistening guitars steeped in chorus-cued effects pedals reminiscent of the band’s utmost 80s icon Prince.

Watch: The Night Café Air Music Video For "Please"

Liverpool indie pop/alt band The Night Café have aired the video for "Please".

The song is part of our current playlist and is taken from the band's debut album '0151', released in August 2019 via AWAL Records. Get your copy here.

About the clip, the band said: "The idea for to film the video on our webcams came from that we obviously can’t see each other at the moment, but mainly because wanted to have something to give/show people who are losing their minds having to isolate due to Covid-19 and it felt like a much more personal way to shoot a video. It kind of worked out perfectly to suit the song though, I always thought ‘Please’ would be fun to make a video for. I felt so invested in the idea from the moment I thought of it, I just dropped everything else and focused solely on the video. The boys sent me clips of them playing the song a few times and it just went from there. Really funny way to make a video though, makes you miss seeing each other more in these weird times. I’ve never made a video before though so this was a fun challenge for myself. Josh is usually the man for that, he made all our earlier vids plus a heavy merch ad which is still my favourite TNC vid to this day, even though its not for a song."
