From the band: "This song is about the exasperation of living under blame for issues that are entirely down to the ten years of austerity we’ve suffered, how we’re told ‘no one wants to work anymore’ while dredging through 50+ hour work weeks, or ‘if you stop buying flat whites and avocados maybe you could afford to be a homeowner’ by the very people hoarding property. Quite frankly we’re fucking sick of it, and if you are too then maybe this could be your jam."

‘Alone Not Lonely’ sees Elise Cook arrive at a moment of revelation, where she finds herself flourishing outside of relationships that never served her. “This was one of those epiphany moments, where I realised that alone I was not only okay, but I was thriving, and it wasn’t down to anyone else except myself. It was that realisation of self-love and owning my accomplishments in life. It came out in this form of pure joy that I needed to put into song.”

 

Poltergeists is an EP about false love – from its hopeful and reckless beginnings to its inevitable chaotic disintegration. Throughout the tracks, Cook consistently calls herself into question, yet thankfully resolves her insecurities with a profound maturity. Soot Sprite may only be at the start of their exciting journey, but their achingly poignant music is already winning them new audiences far and wide, and their relatability clearly resonates with new listeners and fans alike.
