Metro Verlaine Announce New LP 'Funeral Party', Stream Title Track

French post punk band Metro Verlaine have announced the release of their second studio album 'Funeral Party'.

Composed and recorded at home, the follow-up to 2018's Cut-Up "exudes frustration and a visceral need to act", it will be out on 27 May through Le Cèpe Records.

Funeral Party maintains the Post Punk and wild tension for nearly 35 minutes. Between the nihilism of an already lost youth – Teenage Dreams / Frustration / Laisse Tomber La Nuit – or the urge to fight – Life is a Riot – Raphaëlle and Axel let rage take over, guitar riffs are sharp and words are shouted to break the silence. The night was long and the black sun burns a little higher in the sky. Perfect time to let yourself dance and celebrate life. That’s exactly what a Funeral Party is.

Inspired by the Shoegaze aesthetic of the early 90's and the darkness of the early Cure albums, title track, Funeral Party is a slow song that should only be played at the end of the night. It's hard to dance at three grams when your love has run off and the punch bowl is desperately empty. A fucked up prom when there's nothing left but the fuzz to fill the loneliness.
