London post punk/noise rock/disco five-piece The Queen's Head have shared the video for their brand new single "Tonight I Saved A Life".
They make alternative pop about modern anxieties. Blending elements of post-punk, noise-rock, disco and modern dance music, wrapped in a familiar verse-chorus pop structure, the resulting sound is simultaneously enchanting and terrifying.
The song follows Dan Carey-produced singles 'Teach Me To Dance' and 'Your God Owes You Money', the latter of which came out as a 7" via Speedy Wunderground earlier this year. Get it here.
'Tonight I Saved a Life' is a fan-favourite staple of the band's raucous and unpredictable live shows, which have sold-out London's Sebright Arms, The Lexington, and The Social and earned them a summer residency at Windmill Brixton this year.
The band say of the track: "'More direct! more fist-clenching! more string stabs! we repeated together in a hot, drunk kitchen, an environment which forged 'Tonight I Saved A Life' into a glittering gold jewel. It is a song of revelry, hedonism and performativity in the face of grim surroundings. Powered by thumping indie-disco rhythms, it is both encouraging you and discouraging you to disappear inward, strike a pose and love yourself."
Toronto noise rock/psych four-piece Gloin have announced the release of their debut full-length album 'We Found This'.
The 10-track album was recorded with Dylan Frankland of Tallies and will be out on October 21st, 2022 via boutique Montreal label Mothland. Pre-order your copy here.
They offer a first glimpse of the loud and furious album on August 30th when they drop “Shoot to Kill” (accompanied by a music video), a discotheque-friendly post-punkish scorcher about breaking the monotonous working life cycle.
Drawing inspiration from Sonic Youth’s nonchalant verve and Lightning Bolt’s aggressive sonic constructs, Gloin’s new opus, We Found This, is flush with patented pop melodies and beautifully noisy arrangements, supported by a distorted rhythm section that offers plenty of urgency, but also soothing grooves. Lyrically, the long-player is as subversive as it is inspiring, challenging the routine, embracing the occult, celebrating individuality.
For fans of Sonic Youth, Pixies and Battles.

Talking about the track, guitarist Sebastian Lugli says: "We like the listener to be conveyed to a hypnotic flow so we work by subtraction, minimising centrifugal elements such as harmony and rhythmic variations and instead playing with the sonic texture. 'One Illusion' is all built on repetition, with different layers of sound going in and out. There’s the Tanpura, modular synths and some guitars. Among these is the one played with a Mush-trem, a vintage sounding tremolo that I self-built in an old volume pedal case to continuously change the rate while I play".
The video features footage from Michelangelo Antonioni 1966 mystery thriller "Blow-Up". WAtch below.
