Watch: Slowdive Premiere "Don’t Know Why" Music Video

British shoegaze/dream pop band Slowdive have premiered the video for their dreamy single "Don’t Know Why".

The song is part of our current playlist and is taken from the band's self-titled new album, which came out back in May via Dead Oceans. Grab your copy here.

The clip was directed by Grant Singer, who explains: "This video is less about logic and more about a feeling. It’s a triptych about memory, about being lost and abandoned. Slowdive has been my favorite band since I was a kid. To say that making this video was surreal would be an understatement. Their music has been this gift—this friend that stays with me always and gets better over time. Hearing their new album left me speechless. So having the opportunity to make something for them is an honor that I don’t take for granted."

New Entry: Grounders Unveil New Single "No Ringer"

Toronto based psych pop four piece Grounders have unveiled their new single "No Ringer".

The song is the first single to be taken form the band's forthcoming debut self-titled LP "a collection of dense and intricate pop music under the gauzy veil of krautrock and psychedelia", which will be available on May 12 in North America, July in UK/EU.

"With a dreamy, reverb-drenched intro, the song drifts alongside layers of wobbly arpeggiated synth lines and space-age guitar melodies. It’s the opening track, and it’s also a fitting intro to GROUNDERS. It shimmers and gleams, but there’s a scrappy, stripped-back undertone that chips away at any polish. For every catchy hook and lush arrangement throughout the album there’s a woozy counterpoint that keeps things slightly off-kilter."

FFS (Franz Ferdinand & Sparks) Announce Self-titled Album, Air ""Piss Off"

FFS, the new super-group formed by Franz Ferdinand and Sparks, have announced they will release their self-titled debut album on June 8 via Domino Records.

The 12-track album has been produced by John Congleton at London’s RAK Studios, and was recorded during an intense 15-day period in late 2014. "We approached it the way bands do with their first record,” says Alex Kapranos. “We had the songs first, rehearsed them and then recorded it all together, in a room. So no hanging around or fannying about."

Very much a ‘new’ project, FFS doesn't truly sound like either band, but a striking and fascinating mutation. “The real motivation was to make something new, not ‘Franz featuring Russell Mael’, or ‘Sparks with Franz Ferdinand backing them," he adds.

The lead track "Piss Off" is the first song they wrote for the album, it is out now, and is very Sparks but also very FF.  Pre-order the album here.

Check out the album's tracklist and stream Piss Off below.

Northern Faces Announce Debut Album, Share New Single "Cops Come"

Albany NY, indie rock/punk band Northern Faces have announced that they will release their self-titled debut full-lenght on April 21 through Equal Vision Records.

The follow-up to their 2013's debut EP Southern Places, features 10 tracks, and was produced by Casey Bates of Portugal.

The band have also shared their new single energetic "Cops Come", which is available as an instant download if you pre-order the album here now.

About the single, co-vocalist/guitarist Bryan Shortell, says: "‘Cops Come' is one of those songs that we've always wanted to write. We love British rock, big hooks, and Stevie Ray style guitar solos. This song has a bit of all of that in there, but I think it still sounds very ‘right now’ – it still has a modern feel. 'Guitar' is kind of a dirty word in the alternative world right now, and we want to try and change that. Consider this song our battle cry."

Check out the album art and tracklisting and listen to "Cops Come" below.

Northern Faces tracklisting:
01. Cops Come
02. Wait, Wait, Wait
03. Back and At It

The Helio Sequence Announce New Album, Stream "Stoic Resemblance"

Portland indie rock duo The Helio Sequence have announced  that they will release their new self-titled album on May 19 via Sub Pop Records.

This is the band's sixth album and their first since 2012's Negotiations, and was inspired by the "20-Song Game," a popular competition amongst musician friends in Portland.

A press release explains: Songwriters would arrive in their studios at prearranged times and spend all day recording 20 complete songs. When they were finished, they’d have a party, listen to the results and talk about the process—of taking the good with the bad, of letting creativity push past constraint, of simply making music in the moment. Brandon Summers and Benjamin Weikel took the spirit of the “The 20-Song Game” to heart, and forged ahead writing a new record.

The tracklist for The Helio Sequence is as follows:

01. Battle Lines
02. Stoic Resemblance
03. Red Shifting
04. Upward Mobility
05. Leave or Be Yours
06. Deuces
07. Inconsequential Ties
08. Seven Hours
09. Phantom Shore
10. Never Going Back

Wire Announce New Album, Stream "Joust & Jostle"

Seminal UK post-punk band Wire have announced they will release their 13th studio album, simply entitled 'Wire', in April 21 through their own pinkflag imprint.

According to a press release, the self-titled effort comprises material that was written with the album in mind, but toured extensively first, as well as songs that singer and guitarist Colin Newman introduced to the group in the studio just prior to recording. The idea was to get the most spontaneous reaction possible from the musicians, and far from the rough and ready results one might expect from such a tack, Wire is full of swooning pop melodies with a 60s tinge and an irresistible, near motorik rhythmic momentum. One can recognise certain melodic inflections, guitar and bass motifs, and drum rhythms from Wire’s idiosyncratic vocabulary but it has a remarkable freshness.

The basic tracks were recorded at Rockfield Studios near Monmouth, with overdubs added at Brighton Electric last December following the group’s DRILL : BRIGHTON Festival. The 11 tracks selected for release were the ones that came together most naturally. Pre-order your copy here.

The band are also streaming the album's lead single "Joust & Jostle". Check out the tracklist and listen to the track below.

Wire Tracklist:
01. Blogging
02. Shifting
03. Burning Bridges
04. In Manchester
05. High
06. Sleep-Walking
07. Joust & Jostle
08. Swallow
09. Split Your Ends
10. Octopus
11. Harpooned
