Temples Announce New LP 'Hot Motion', Share Title Track Video

London's neo-psych band Temples have announced the release of their third studio album titled 'Hot Motion'.

The follow-up to 2017's Volcano, was recorded in a studio set up in an outbuilding of Bagshaw's house in the midlands of England, and will be out on September 27 via ATO (their first for the label). Pre-order your copy here,

Speaking about the record, the band's Thomas Walmsley, said: "It felt like there was a darker edge to what we were coming up with and we wanted to make sure that carried through the whole record. It's not a 10 track, relentless rock record from start to finish, it's got a lot of light and shade and more tender moments, but that heavier, darker sound is something we wanted to explore further."

Of the lyrics, Bagshaw had this to say: "I'm really proud of 'You're Either On Something' lyrically. On that track, I can hear influences of stuff that I listened to when I was growing up. There's almost a nostalgia to that track, even though it's very forward-looking. Equally, while the words on [album closer] 'Monuments' are a little cryptic, it's very much about the time we live in. I wouldn't say it's a political song but you can't help but write about the things that are happening."

Check out the album's tracklist and watch the video for its title track, below.

New Entry: Temples Premiere New Single "Certainty"

London's neo-psych band Temples have premiered their brand new single "Certainty"

This is the band's first new single since their critically acclaimed 2014 debut album 'Sun Structures.'

Frontman James Bagshaw who produced the single describes it:

“When writing the melody for ‘Certainty,’ I wanted to create something with almost an eerie, early Disney vibe, something playful and harmonious, but with a dark twist. Producing the song was as much about layering as it was about sparseness -- the verses needed to reveal the thumping motion of the bass and the reflective lyrics, and the melody had to be paired with the right ambience. The chorus was approached in an opposite way, layer after layer, thickening the sound. There’s a blend between moog bass, and actual bass, and the song switches between synthetic and analogue sounds throughout. The guitar mirrors the synth, and visa versa.”

Temples Announce Remix Album 'Sun Restructured'

On November 10th, British psych-prog band Temples will release 'Sun Restructured', a "re-animation" of their much-acclaimed debut album, Sun Structures, by Beyond the Wizards Sleeve (Erol Alkan & Richard Norris).

Beyond the Wizards Sleeve have created an epic 42-minute re-working of Sun Structures, using five re-interpreted tracks (Sand Dance, Shelter Song, A Question Isn’t Answered, Golden Throne & Move With The Season) from the original album to form the spine of the record.

Describing the record, Erol Alkan said: “Being asked to re-animate a whole album’s worth of material is an honour. We (in return) wanted to create something special. A record which could be listened to in one go, from start to finish, a listening experience that is becoming increasingly rare. So as well as a host of full Beyond The Wizards Sleeve re-animations here, there are interludes, ambience, ebb and flow…each section flowing into a bigger piece. We tried many things along the way: spoken word sections, days out collecting field recordings, yet ended up letting the original songs and their beautiful arrangements and melodies guide us. There is so much happening under the surface of Sun Structures, and deep within each track, it was a pleasure to dive in and see what we could find. it inspired us to pick up our guitars, plug in our synthesisers and add some wizardry on top. Enjoy this trip. And it is a trip.”

Sun Restructured will be available as part of a deluxe CD and download re-issue package with the original album.

The Beyond The Wizard's Sleeve re-animation of 'Move With Season' is online now. Have a listen below.
