TOY Announce New LP 'Happy In The Hollow', Air "Sequence One" New Video

London-based indie rock/psychedelic band TOY have announced the release of their fourth studio album titled 'Happy In The Hollow'.

The follow-up to 2016's Clear Shot, was entirely produced and mixed by the band, and recorded between their own home tape studios and mixed at Dan Carey’s Studio B in South London. It will be out on January 25th via Tough Love Records. Pre-order your copy here.

According to the press release, Happy In The Hollow is entirely uncompromising: an atmospheric capturing of a state of mind that touches on post-punk, electronic dissonance, acid folk and Krautrock. Familiar qualities like metronomic rhythms, warping guitars, undulating synths and Tom’s gentle, reedy vocals are all in there, but so is a greater emphasis on melody, a wider scope, and a combining of the reassuring and the sinister that is as unnerving as it is captivating.' The sound has without doubt expanded — and grown more confident — in part because this is the first album for which TOY has become a self-sufficient five-person unit doing everything for themselves.

“Each song was a blank canvas,” says Maxim. “Producers inevitably develop their own patterns over time, right down to certain drum sounds. We were starting from scratch and it felt very creative as a result. It’s an album we feel deeply connected to”..

Check out the album's tracklist and watch the video for their hazy new single "Sequence One" below.

New Entry: TOY Return With Two New Songs "The Willo" and "Energy"

London-based indie rock/psychedelic band TOY have returned with two new songs "The Willo" and "Energy".

The 12" single will be out tomorrow (September 24th) via Tough Love Records, and is a foretaste of a forthcoming album in January 2019. Buy your copy here.

"The Willo" is a dreamlike, seven-minute glide, redolent of a forest at sunset and just as pretty, but not without hints of malevolence. Maxim's fingerpicking acoustic melds with electric twang from Dominic, and a whirling organ from Max Oscarnold gives this elegant creation an extra layer of disorientation and depth. “People appear to have seen Will-o’-the-wisp, a mysterious green-blue light, over the centuries. It generally means something ominous is about to happen", says Tom Dougall.

Then there is "Energy", which lives up to its name with thunderously metronomic drums from Charlie Salvidge and a ferocious guitar from Dominic O’Dair. The lyrics, culled from a story written by Max about a nighttime ritual, are obscured by the barrage-like forward momentum of the music.

Cymbals Announce New LP 'Light In Your Mind', Share New Single "Decay"

London based dance-pop/post punk/new wave band Cymbals have announced they will release their new album titled 'Light In Your Mind' on August 25 on Tough Love Records.

The record is the first new material from CYMBALS in two years, and their first album since January 2014. If the wait seems long for the listener, for those involved in its creation the time in between pulls in a lifetime of unexpected experiences. That Light In Your Mind even exists is a testament to not giving in. That it sounds the way it does is both remarkable and, somehow, inevitable.

The band have also shared the first single "Decay,", which according to Jack Cleverly "is about getting comfortable with decay, accepting decay. Around the time we were writing that song I went to the Ruin Lust exhibition, and saw the beauty of things breaking down. I was thinking about that in terms of my own life, as a lot of things that I thought my life was based on seemed to be crumbling, but at the same time there was a whole load of beauty, and openings up of myself, of things that I never thought were there. I felt that I could breathe in a way, but at the same time it was kind of full of destruction and chaos, or at least I was creating that around me."

Pre-order the album here, check out the tracklist and have a listen to "Decay" below.

Tracklisting:
01.Decay
02. Car Crash
03. Talk To Me
04. I Thought I Knew You
05. My Body (Winter Mix)
06. Where Nothing Can Be Defined
07. Splitting
08. Euphoric Recall
09. ASMR
10. Fully Automated Luxury
11. Lifetime Achievement Award

New Entry: Girls Names Reveal New Single "A Hunger Artist"

Belfast-based indie pop/psych band Girls Names have revealed the video for their excellent new single "A Hunger Artist".

The song is the is the second single (the first was "Reticence") to be taken from their upcoming third studio album  'Arms Around a Vision', set to be released on 2nd October via Tough Love Records. Pre-order your copy here.

According to the press, "where 'Reticence' was all primordial clang and clatter, recalling the best moments of early '80s no wave and its forerunners - think Glenn Branca and Rhys Chatham's respective guitar ensembles - bookending one of the most immediate, accessible songs the band have ever written at its core, 'A Hunger Artist' is an altogether more colossal and meandering beast."

Girls Names Announce New Album, Share ‘Reticence’

Belfast-based indie pop/psych band Girls Names have announced they will released their third studio album 'Arms Around a Vision' on 2nd October via Tough Love Records.

The 12-track album have been self-produced, with Dan Rejmer on the mixing and according to the press release, on Arms Around a Vision, "they’re more widescreen than ever but also more direct and aggressive. The bass, drums and guitars are still there, but so are saxophones, organs, detuned broken guitars and pianos, and even sheets of metal assaulted with hammers. Conceptually, Arms Around a Vision acts as a love letter to European elegance – Italian futurism, Russian constructivism, Germany’s Zero Group and both Neubaten and Bowie’s Berlin."

The band have also shared the album opener "Reticence", a song in two parts that’s half metallic knockout, half midnight swagger.
