Tickets For Stone Roses Movie Premiere Sell Out In Less Than a Minute

Tickets for Shane Meadows' upcoming Made Of Stone: Stone Roses documentary film premiere, which will take place at Victoria Warehouse in Manchester, went on sale yesterday (18 April) and have sold out in less than one minute.

The tickets are also sold out for the UK cinemas who are taking part in the nationwide broadcast, which has led to Picturehouse putting on additional screens.

Speaking about the news Meadows says: "I'd love to think the tickets selling out so quick was down to the fan base I've built up over the last 15-20 years, but I know it's them lot that everyone's really coming to see. Bald Chunkers like me don't sell out stadiums, but if we've got a Guinness World Record I would deffo take the credit."

In a recent interview about the film, the director said: "It's not very often one of your heroes asks you to make a documentary about your all time favourite band, that are getting back together after twenty years." He was not only given unprecedented access to the band for almost a year, but he also followed fans of the Stone Roses around the world, to understand the influence that the band's music has on them.

The film will debut for the first time on Thursday 30 May and have a general release on 5 June. You can watch the trailer here.

'The Stone Roses: Made Of Stone' Documentary To Be Released In June

The Stone Roses documentary 'Made Of Stone' will open in British cinemas on Wednesday 5 June following a premiere in the group's hometown on Thursday 30 May.

The film was made by This Is England director Shane Meadows and goes behind the scenes on the Manchester band's 2012 reunion, from the early stages to their celebratory hometown gigs at Heaton Park.

The event will be satellite-linked to 100 cinemas as part of nationwide preview screenings running concurrently with the premiere launch, with tickets for both the host venue and the satellite-linked cinemas made available to the public.

A premiere for the film, with all members of the band in attendance, will take place in Manchester on May 30 with a number of fans who attended last year's Warrington Parr Hall and Heaton Park gigs who are featured in the film receiving tickets to the premiere in Manchester. Images of the chosen fans will be posted on the film's official Facebook and Twitter pages in the coming weeks.

"Making this film, I got to be part of something truly remarkable, the double decade awaited ‘resurrection’ of my all time favourite band, The Stone Roses," said Meadows.

"People say that you can’t recapture your youth, it’ll never be the same second time round etc, but that’s utter rubbish. The Roses were never allowed to reach their peak first time around so, as far as I and millions of fans around the world were concerned, with this comeback the Roses could be even greater." He added.

Shane Meadows Unveils Stone Roses Documentary Title

Filmmaker Shane Meadows' forthcoming documentary on the Stone Roses reunion has been entitled "The Stone Roses: Made Of Stone".

The renowned director has teamed up with Film4, 4DVD and Warp Films for the project, which tells the story of the Manchester band’s comeback tour last year which was defined by the record breaking three-night stay at Manchester’s Heaton Park.

Meadows has said: “When Ian Brown rang me to tell me my favourite band of all time was getting back together again, it was like every Roses fan’s wildest dreams were coming true. People tell you that you can’t recapture your youth, it won’t be the same. I don’t believe that.”

“I’m going to make up for the nightmare of a lifetime at 17 years old, being sat in a flat having a bad trip when I could have been at Spike Island, being part of one of the most momentous things ever.”

Film4 executive producer Katherine Butler added: "It’s hard to think of a film that could be any more exciting. A combination of Shane’s wonderfully insightful directorial eye, the seminal genius of The Stone Roses, and our brilliant friends at Warp – what else is there to say? We’re thrilled."

The film includes footage of the band's early rehearsals and subsequent performances on the road in Spain, Germany and Japan, and it's scheduled for cinema release later this year.
