Watch: Shopping Release New Single/Video "For Your Pleasure"

London post-punk trio Shopping have released the video for their new single "For Your Pleasure"

The song is taken from their forthcoming album 'All or Nothing', which will be out on February 7, 2020, via Fat Cat Records. Pre-order your copy here.

In a press release, the band said, “‘For Your Pleasure’ is a song about frustration, the feeling of always wanting more, needing material things to distract or gratify us. It’s about consumerism but also searching for meaning in life. That feeling of longing that never really goes away even when you have the things, the job, the status, or the person you thought you wanted. I think people who create music or art know what that feels like particularly.”

Shopping Announce New LP 'The Official Body', Air "The Hype" New Video

London post-punk trio Shopping have announced the release of their new album titled 'The Official Body'.

The band recorded the album with producer Edwyn Collins at his Clashnarrow studios, and will be out on January 19 via FatCat Records.

The album’s title (established before any of the songs were written), The Official Body, is a play on the idea of official bodies of power and control, “the mystical powers that be” as bassist Billy Easter deems them, as well as the construct of a physical body that fits within the societal paradigm of what is “acceptable.”

Collins helped the band develop their sound, diverting the setup away from the standard drums, bass, guitar stance that’s been the band’s staple. The album is the first to incorporate synths to Shopping’s frenetic dance, ushering in an updated line of post-punk progressiveness. “We introduced a Novation Bass station and drum pads which has amped up the party vibe on this new album,” says Aggs, “and possibly introduced some surprising elements including a song with no guitar at all – “Wild Child.”

The band manages to walk the razor thin line between inspiring euphoric dance and shouldering societal anxiety. They face down gender politics and environmental peril (“Suddenly Gone”), breakdown social media as both a vital emotional mask and conduit of spirit (“Wild Child”). The Official Body stays true to the minimal dance-punk ethos of Shopping’s previous releases, fans of which will undoubtedly find this logical unfolding of their musical approach thoroughly satisfying.

Pre-order the album here, check out the tracklist and watch the video their previously unveiled single "The Hype" (directed by Billy Easter and Jack Barraclough)  below.

Tracklist:
01. The Hype
02. Wild Child
03. Asking For A Friend
04. Suddenly Gone
05. Shave Your Head
06. Discoverer
07. Control Yourself
08. My Dad's A Dancer
09. New Values
10. Overtime

Watch: Best Friends Drop Music Video For New Track "Fake Spit"

Sheffield basement pop band Best Friends have dropped the video for their new track "Fake Spit".

The song takes influence from 1987's rom-com fantasy ‘Mannequin’ to ponder the old age question "If ignorance is bliss, is knowledge pain?", and will be available soon on 7" single.

It is taken from their forthcoming debut album, 'Hot. Reckless. Totally Insane.', which will be out in May through  FatCat Records.

The video sees the band burst into life and use up all their pent up energy before deciding that they were better off living as mannequins. It's like Socrates once famously said "I would rather be a sad philosopher than a happy mannequin" – what a towel bouncer!

It was Directed by band member Ed Crisp, who also directed the previous clips for "Shred Til You're Dead" and "Happy Anniversary".
