The Spectors Announce Debut Album 'Light Stays Close', Air Video For "Like Sand"

Belgium shoegaze dream-pop band The Spectors have announced they will release their debut full-length album 'Light Stays Close', which will be out on March 6th via [PIAS] Recordings.

The album was recorded during ten days in November at the La Chapelle Studios in the Ardennes, and alternates between poppy earworms with singalong choruses and relentlessly dark, derailing dirges. According to the press release, the album is "a melancholy and moody, yet strangely uplifting collection of songs about loves gone wrong, alienation, jealousy, heartbreak and yearning for better times, with a ray of light just piercing through the darkness at the very end."

It will remind you of House Of Love. The clip features footage from "Sandcastles 1972, Ridgemont High".

Watch: The Spectors Reveal Music Video For New Single "Dig"

Belgium shoegaze dream-pop band The Spectors have shared a new video for "Dig".

The song is part of our current playlist and is taken from their self-titled EP (produced by former Editors guitarist Christ Urbanowicz), available now via [PIAS] Recordings. Get your copy here.

"In desaturated, deceptively dreamy super slo-mo, the clip's revenge fantasy motif acknowledges the capacity for good and evil in all of us, and smashes to smithereens the notion of the innocence of youth. Think Sam Peckinpah meets Lord of the Flies by way of The Omen. And of every school bully you have ever known."

Take a look at the video below, it was directed by Jochen Decostere (who also directed the video for "Nico") and filmed by Didier Lenglaert.

Watch: The Spectors Share Music Video For First Single "Nico"

Belgium shoegaze dream-pop band The Spectors have shared a trippy video for their debut single "Nico."

The song has been added to our current playlist and is available now. Written by frontwoman and bass-player Marieke Hutsebaut, the song draws from musical and personal experiences. It will feature on the band's forthcoming EP, which will come out in March via PIAS.

Directed by  Jochen Decostere (Labrats), the clip keeps the song's theme of alienation, taking the 'bad trip' route, and not only throws in references which will delight movie buffs and music lovers alike, it also pays homage to Joseph Plateau, the Belgian physicist who invented the “phenakistoscope” in 1832.
