Hooveriii Unleash New Single/Video "Twisted & Vil"

Los Angeles psychedelic/space rock band Hooveriii have unleashed the video for their new single "Twisted & Vil". 

The song is taken from their upcoming new album 'A Round of Applause', set to arrive on July 29 through The Reverberation Appreciation Society. Pre-order your copy here.

The band’s Bert Hoover notes “It’s a song about trying to figure out your place in life,” further adding “I wrote it with a Hammond Auto-vari drum machine many years ago that sat on a reel of tape untouched. We like to reference the archives when putting together a new record because you never know where inspiration strikes. We dusted this one off and thought we could really make this work. Everyone’s instrumentation fell right into the pocket, especially Gabe’s leads. Very proud of the crew. The song, to me, is about finding your place in the scheme of things - but really we’re just trying to have a good time.”

Hooveriii Announce New LP 'A Round of Applause', Stream "See"

Los Angeles psychedelic/space rock band Hooveriii have announced the release of their new studio album 'A Round of Applause'.

The -track record will be out on July 29 through The Reverberation Appreciation Society and is available for pre-order here.

Prior to delving into A Round of Applause, the band had stuck to a routine of issuing about two releases a year (including singles, live albums, etc.).  After the rise of a certain five-letter word that starts with a C, they realized that time really shouldn’t be taken for granted. Finding additional inspiration via Nick Cave, who once said that dabbling with new ideas continues to fuel his near-50-year career, the band decidedly took a different approach with their new album and gave themselves the freedom to explore in the studio.

Watch: CLUSTERSUN Unleash Music Video For "Juggernaut"

Italian neo-psych/space rock/shoegaze band CLUSTERSUN have unleashed the video for their latest single "Juggernaut".

The song is taken from their third studio album 'Avalanche', released in May through Icy Cold Records (FR) and Little Cloud Records (US). Grab your copy here.

Speaking about it, the band said: “Juggernaut is the Force hidden behind the appearance of quietness, as being in the eye of an invisible tornado. Is the Force driving us to discover faraway worlds, also inside our own souls. The video clip was directed by the young videomaker Mirko Raslov, who transposed the dark and menacing mood of the song into sci-fi imagery, highlighting the cosmic sound and the post-punk attitude of Juggernaut.”

German psychedelic/space-rock/krautrock trio YAGOW have announced the release of their sophomore studio album 'The Mess'.

From the band: "The song is about the conscious or unconscious assumption of certain roles within our capitalist society that are expected from us and about how we have been socialised to adopt them and to  perfect that facade. When Pascal and Tobi from Keine Zeit Medien came up with the idea to recreate a teleshopping program in the style of the 90s for the first video single and to have every band member present a trashy product, we knew that this would go perfectly with the message of “Rise & Shine!“ With the support of some friends who, in contrast to our amateur acting, turned out to be near-professional actors, the shoot was a lot of fun. And when Pascal, in his role as our hair model, said that he would be willing to do everything for the sake of art (“Mach mir einfach die Halbglatze!“), it was clear that the video was going to be killer! See for yourself!"

Combining the resonant riffing of The Black Angels, Kyuss, True Widow, Spacemen 3 with the celebrant atmosphere of Dead Skeletons "The Mess" presents an eclectic mix of psychedelic rock, kraut, garage rock and stoner rock.

The Mess takes you on a drive across a desert wasteland in a big old rust bucket of a car — with sunglasses on and your head bobbing to the music of the bumps in the road. YAGOW set a timeless mood that transports you away from the meddles of everyday life and into higher spirits.

Of “Erasure” Hooveriii note “Maybe the most sonically aggressive jam on the LP, Erasure is also the only love song. Originally demoed in a more straightforward fashion, but when Shaughnessy added the rhythmic toms it became more of a war chant. Big primitive energy, much like the destructive nature of love. The song also features wicked dueling sax and war cries from Gabe Flores & Gabe Salomón.” “The idea of the video - which is a mix of live action and stop motion - came from the director, Owen Summers.” They continue. “We wanted to make it feel like an episode of Star Trek or any sort of sci-fi B-movie.”

New York  acid pop/new wave/synthwave band Your 33 Black Angels (a.k.a. Y33BA) have shared the video for their newest single "Hott Funn".

The video was made by Richie of Vinyl Villains. "Richie is a mysterious Bushwick programmer that doesn't leave his loft til the light has disappeared and day has turned to dark. He is part vampire, part design whiz. He has invented an automated animation program that turns songs into aliens, furry creatures, whatever the sound seems to suggest. Obviously, Your 33 Black Angels has a very alien sound, but he might have horses singing to Neil Young, vegan cupcakes singing Fiona Apple, dolphins singing Supergrass, etc. Richie is so ineffable and distant, we don't even know his last name. All we know is he commands legions of aliens, faeries and elves. Literally that's what he does!"

The song is a "five minute juggernaut of psychedelic pop", it was mixed by Ride singer/producer Mark Gardener, and is out today (14th September).

New album 'Eastern Flow' set to arrive on 1st March 2019.

Album of the Week July 03/2017: Secret Colours 'Dream Dream'

Our new Album of the Week is 'Dream Dream', the excellent new record of Chicago-based space rock/pop four-piece Secret Colours, out this Friday (July 7th). 

The follow up to 2014's album 'Positive Distractions' (which was also named AOTW back then), sees the band once again fuse the ‘60s psychedelia and ‘90s Britpop sounds and is a pleasant trip from beginning to end.

It takes its musical cues from indie, pop, psychedelia, and garage rock, captivating listeners through a myriad of melodies that make up Secret Colours signature sound.

Songs like “Changes in Nature” and “Pins and Needles” are homages to their influences while “Feed the Machine” delivers a pounding vibe of bass with an attitude of 70’s London. Secret Colours are eager to support the release of Dream Dream and continue to expand their ever evolving sound."
