Visage Release “The Wild Life (The Best Of, 1978-2015)” Compilation

The Steve Strange Collective, in conjunction with the various Visage record labels (Polydor, Universal, August Day) have announced the release of  Visage "The Wild Life (The Best Of, 1978-2015)".

For the first time a career spanning compilation featuring the best tracks from all five Visage studio albums and more. All royalties go towards the Steve Strange Collective.

Although Steve Strange (RIP) was the only official member of Visage (All other members signed "sidemen" contracts from 1980 onwards) he did assemble some amazing musicians and songwriters to work with.

New Entry: Ministry Air "The Game Is Over" Previously Unreleased Song From 1983

In April 18 (aka Record Store Day), Cleopatra Records will release Ministry Trax! Box, an expansive new Ministry collection.

The 7 disc/1 LP Ministry Trax! Box collects 12 inch singles, remixes, rarities, and previously unreleased material from Wax Trax!-era Ministry and Al Jourgensen-related side projects (Revolting Cocks, Pailhead, 1000 Homo DJs).

In late 1983, after completing the With Sympathy  tour, Ministry hunkered down at Pierce Arrow Recorders in Evanston, IL, to write and demo new music. Four songs were tracked in what would be just about the last gasp of the band’s first incarnation. The band’s singer/guitarist/keyboardist Alain Jourgensen, keyboardist Robert Roberts, and drummer Stephen George were joined by touring bassist Brad Hallen to work on the songs "The Game Is Over," "Let’s Be Happy," "Same Old Scene," and "Wait," none of which were ever officially released.

The collection features material previously released on the Twelve Inch Singles and Side Trax compilations, as well as the out-of-print Black Box — Wax Trax! Records: The First 13 Years box set. But there are previously unreleased demos, as well as long-sought material such as “I’ll Do Anything For You,” the With Sympathy-era track that Al Jourgensen recently shared online.

The box set also includes three expanded Revolting Cocks albums on CD, plus a bonus 12-inch, six-song vinyl live LP recorded by Ministry in Chicago in 1982.

David Bowie Announces Career-Spanning Compilation, Including New Track

David Bowie has announced the release of 'Nothing Has Changed', a career-spanning collection of his music, including a new track recorded this year.

Covering fifty years of recorded works from his 1964 debut 'Liza Jane', through to a brand new recording made this year, 'Nothing Has Changed' (named after a lyric from the Heathen album opener Sunday) compiles tracks from every period of Bowie's career and features new single "Sue (Or In A Season Of Crime)" will be released on November 17th. 

The new track "Sue (Or In A Season Of Crime)" was recorded especially with Tony Visconti, and will be released as a limited edition 10” single and digital download on the same day, and will feature another exclusive 2014 recording on the B-side: "Tis A Pity She's A Whore".

Alongside the brand new A-side track, Nothing Has Changed features the previously unreleased "Let Me Sleep Beside You" from the Toy album sessions. The download only Your Turn To Drive will also be making its debut on CD for Nothing Has Changed and the 2001 re-recording of the 1971 outtake, Shadow Man, is included too.

Suede To Release Vinyl Box Set Of Albums And B-Sides

Suede are set to reissue all six of their studio albums as part of an upcoming vinyl limited edition box set, along with 1997's B-sides compilation Sci-Fi Lullabies.

Entitled 'The Vinyl Collection', will be out on October 21, through Demon Music the same day as the band release "For The Strangers", their third single from this year's critically acclaimed album Bloodsports.

The band will also be on tour across the UK this autumn, starting at Southampton’s Guildhall on 22 October. [via The Quietus]

The Chameleons To Reissue 'Why Call It Anything', Release New Rarities Set

The Chameleons will reissue their 2001's album 'Why Call It Anything' and will also release a brand new compilation called 'Dreams in Celluloid' featuring demos and early studio takes with the rare Tony Fletcher Walked on Water.... La La La La La-La La-La-La EP.

Both two-disc sets will be released next Monday via Blue Apple Music.

The reissue of 'Why Call It Anything' will be accompanied by the now-deleted 13-track Live at the Academy CD, which was recorded at the Manchester Academy in 2001, and features tracks off the album and earlier material.

'The Dreams in Celluloid' set features a disc with 13 demos and early studio takes dating back to the beginning of The Chameleons' career, including songs such as "Fan and the Bellows," “Dali’s Picture” and “Everyday I’m Crucified” that never made it onto the band’s studio albums. 

The second disc of Dreams in Celluloid features the full four-track Tony Fletcher EP, recorded in 1987 during sessions for a follow-up to Strange Days. The band broke up just days after the recordings were made, although they eventually were released posthumously in 1990.

All of the material was newly remastered this past spring.

The Three O’Clock To Release 'The Hidden World Revealed' Compilation With 10 Unreleased Tracks

Los Angeles psychedelic pop quartet, The Three O’Clock have reunited for a short run of dates this April and they are celebrating their current reunion with a brand new compilation album.

Titled 'The Hidden World Revealed', the compilation will feature 10 previously unreleased tracks and spans the years 1981 to 1986, including better known songs such as "Stupid Einstein", "Jet Fighter" and "With a Cantaloupe Girlfriend" as well as previously unreleased demos and alternate takes, including a home demo of "Jennifer Only" that dates back to the band's original incarnation as The Salvation Army. 

In a news release announcing the album, drummer Danny Benair says:

"The Hidden World Revealed takes you from the early days of recording in Michael Quercio’s garage to the days leading up to Arrive Without Traveling and beyond. A combination of the well-known and the unknown. The completist guide to The Three O’Clock — ten years in the making 30 plus years of recording. . . whoosh!"

Devo To Reissue 'Hardcore' Compilations

Iconic new wave band Devo are set to reissue their Hardcore compilations via Superior Viaduct in May.

As Superior Viaduct explains, the original CD versions of Hardcore Vol. 1 and Hardcore Vol. 2 on Rykodisc are long out of print, so they'll be issuing vinyl represses on May 14, with a two-CD package set to arrive a few months later. All editions will be adorned with Moshe Brakha's erotic, foam-breast-utilizing photos.

Recorded on various 4-track machines and in tiny studios, basements, and garages between 1974-1977, Hardcore reveals their strikingly clear vision: rock n' roll stripped bare of its collective cool and jerked back into propaganda fit for post-modern man. It's no surprise that these transmissions would soon catch the eye and ear of Brian Eno who later produced their landmark 1978 debut album. Noisy synth, strangled guitar chops, and a primitive rhythmic thud power the early DEVO sound. Threaded beneath it all are lyrical themes of post-McCarthy paranoia, middle-class ephemera, and DEVO's long-running topic of choice: sex, or lack thereof.

Among the dusty takes will be four previously unreleased tracks: "Man from the Past," "Doghouse Doghouse," "Hubert House" and "Shimmy Shake."
