Watch: ChameleonsVox Premiere Music Video For New Single "Sycophants"

ChameleonsVox (the latest incarnation of Mark Burgess post-punk band previously known as The Chameleons) have premiered a promo video for their new single "Sycophants".

The song is part of our current playlist and is taken from their recently released 4-track EP 'M +D + 1(8)', Burgess first release of fresh material in almost TEN YEARS.

ChameleonsVox (aka The Chameleons) Announce New EP 'M + D = 1(8)'

ChameleonsVox, the latest incarnation of Mark Burgess post-punk band previously known as The Chameleons, will return with a brand new four-track EP titled 'M + D = 1(8)', in November through Blue Apple Music.

The limited edition EP features three new songs, "Heaven", "Sycophants" and "Feel The Need," plus a cover of the Beatles' "Across the Universe." According to the official ChameleonsVox website, the EP will be available to pre-order once the official release date has been confirmed.

The release will be a numbered, limited-edition release, the band notes, "so when they're gone, they're gone."

In Mark's own words: "The Ep constitutes my first release of fresh material in almost TEN YEARS. I nearly dropped cork leg when that was pointed out to me, because trust me it doesn't feel that long to me, but then it never does, does it? 

The four tracks are 'Sycophants' (in the pants) - co-written with my regular guitarist Chris Oliver, 'Heaven' and 'Feel The Need', engineered and co-produced with a long time collaborator Yves Altana who some may remember from past projects 'Invincible' and 'Paradyning'. I'm also collaborating with Yves, along with one or two others, writing and recording a brand new album 'Eden And The End Of The World', which we hope to have completed to coincide with the next manned mission to Mars, or early 2014, whichever comes first. Oh by the way, the title is a coded message to someone but in no way should it be considered as a threat to International security or world peace."

The band have also announced they will embarks on a European tour next month, opening a run of 13 dates on Nov. 8 in Paris, and performing in Germany, Ireland and the U.K., before wrapping up Dec. 8 in London.

The Chameleons To Reissue 'Why Call It Anything', Release New Rarities Set

The Chameleons will reissue their 2001's album 'Why Call It Anything' and will also release a brand new compilation called 'Dreams in Celluloid' featuring demos and early studio takes with the rare Tony Fletcher Walked on Water.... La La La La La-La La-La-La EP.

Both two-disc sets will be released next Monday via Blue Apple Music.

The reissue of 'Why Call It Anything' will be accompanied by the now-deleted 13-track Live at the Academy CD, which was recorded at the Manchester Academy in 2001, and features tracks off the album and earlier material.

'The Dreams in Celluloid' set features a disc with 13 demos and early studio takes dating back to the beginning of The Chameleons' career, including songs such as "Fan and the Bellows," “Dali’s Picture” and “Everyday I’m Crucified” that never made it onto the band’s studio albums. 

The second disc of Dreams in Celluloid features the full four-track Tony Fletcher EP, recorded in 1987 during sessions for a follow-up to Strange Days. The band broke up just days after the recordings were made, although they eventually were released posthumously in 1990.

All of the material was newly remastered this past spring.
