Hot Chip Announce New LP 'Freakout/Release', Stream "Down"

London electronic/dance band Hot Chip have announced the release of their new studio album 'Freakout/Release'.

The follow-up to 2020's album 'A Bath Full Of Ecstasy', will be out on 19 August 2022 via Domino Rwcords. Pre-order your copy here.

Freakout/Release is another dizzying high in a multi-decade career that’s seen Hot Chip continuing to innovate and develop a rich, resonant songcraft. And while they continue to operate at peak form, the album also feels like a new chapter for the group—a collection of flesh-and-blood songs that finds the band reaching into the darkness to emerge as a true creative unit, their gazes fixed positively on the future ahead.

“We were living through a period where it was very easy to feel like people were losing control of their lives in different ways,” Joe Goddard explains of the album’s themes. “There’s a darkness that runs through a lot of those tracks.”

Watch: The Red Dots Premiere New Single/Video "Collapse"

Madrid-based darkwave/synthpop duo The Red Dots have premiered the video for their new single "Collapse".

In 2015 Leandro Gámez & Núria Estúñiga, guided by their musical enthusiasm, decided to create a project in which they will give free rein to their taste for electronics and styles within the Cold Wave and just because they had come up with an attractive name for a band after visiting an exhibition by the light artist Jim Campbell. 

It is not until the end of 2017 that the duo make their musical debut with their first EP 'Highwaves'. Thanks to this work they can be known in the underground scene and play as supporters of bands like Drab Majesty and Xeno & Oaklander.

Local Suicide & Skelesys Drop "Moustache"

Berlin based producer/DJ duo Local Suicide and Buenos Aires native DJ/producer & multi-instrumentalist Skelesys have dropped their collaborative single "Moustache".

The song is taken from Local Suicide's long-awaited debut album ‘Eros Anikate’, set to be released on May 13th through their label Iptamenos Discos. Pre-order your copy here.

Sharing a love for the darker sounds you’d find in horror films and computer simulations, the 4/4 kick drum and woodwind like sounds manipulated into a frenzy bring us a rather interesting juxtaposition of playful horror.

"...a tribute to Dalí and his legendary moustache. But beware! The title of this new track may seem humorous, but the instrumental is far from being funny. On the contrary. It's a complex production, at the crossroads of new wave and post-punk, all sprinkled with touches of EBM. "Moustache" is largely magnified by Vamparela's vocal performance. Add to this, a dark wave atmosphere punctuated by a groovy and omnipresent synth superimposed on floating pads... That's it, you're in space with moustaches floating around you... (Have we gone too far? Maybe.) In short, we had a lot of fun on this devilishly danceable track to the rhythm of "Dalí" chanted in the background."

While the track crescendos into an ominous buildup of synths that continue to mesmerise you, the famous Vamparela vocals are the perfect surrealist playground that Dali himself would be proud of. Contrasting the playful with the serious, this track is the perfect oxymoron with post-punk and EBM madness, of which we’d expect nothing less from the two acts coming together.
