Watch: Art d'Ecco Drops New Single/Video "Desires"

The song is taken from  his forthcoming new album 'In Standard Definition', which will be out in April 23rd through Paper Bag Records. Pre-order your copy here.

The stylishly grainy black-and-white video is the perfect showcase for d'Ecco's tale of an entertainer struggling to maintain relevance, staring down the end of their career.

“A tale born inside the dark underbelly of old Hollywood, then repackaged and reimagined as a rock and roll tragedy,” d'Ecco says “'Desires' is about the entertainer at the end of their career -- soon to be phased out by the next wave of rising talent, and shifting audience tastes. For the old guard, this spectre of change is a constant existential threat that will challenge their ability to keep up with the times and to remain relevant in this brutal industry of show business."

Watch: Art d'Ecco Reveals New Single/Video "I Am The Dance Floor"

British Columbia glam-rocker Art d'Ecco has revealed the video for his new single "I Am The Dance Floor".

The song is taken from  his forthcoming new album 'In Standard Definition', which will be out in April 23rd through Paper Bag Records. Pre-order your copy here.

Beneath a shimmering disco ball and atop a giant patchwork light up floor, “I Am The Dance Floor" beckons us all to be free and join d'Ecco where he is evidently most at home, on stage in the middle of the lights, camera and action.

“I was picturing this alt version of Saturday Night Fever where the lead is this aging loner obsessed with dance, who every weekend shows up at different clubs around town and just murders the dance floor, and then disappears out the back door," says d'Ecco. “There is a person from my home town who sort of fits this description quite well. I think every scene has their own version of Random Dancing Dude.”

Art d'Ecco Announces New LP 'In Standard Definition', Airs "TV God" New Video

British Columbia glam-rocker Art d'Ecco has announced the release of his new album 'In Standard Definition'.

For the follow-up to 2018's Trespasser, Art d’Ecco joined forces with producer/engineer Colin Stewart (Black Mountain, New Pornographers, Destroyer) in ocean-side studio The Hive. The record will be out in April 23rd through Paper Bag Records. Pre-order your copy here.

Adding substance to immaculate style, Art d’Ecco’s latest creation, In Standard Definition, commands attention with every turn. Like channel surfing on an old television set, watching grainy black and white movies or flickering slideshows starring a cross section of humanity, each all-analogue vignette holds up a mirror to pop culture and explores the curiosity of entertainment.

Lyrically blurring fact and fiction, it swaggers from the glory days of La La Land’s golden age to today’s obsession with celebrity and its hold over us all. “No matter where you live or what language you speak, there’s an entertainment god for you,” d’Ecco tells. “Whether on TV or writing the books you read, it’s an odd sense of purpose we allocate to these humans whose talent is in distracting us from the doldrums of daily life. We’re constantly searching for something... glued to our phones... consuming various forms of entertainment. We feel less close with each other, and closer to the strangers who make us feel good.”

In Standard Definition sees d’Ecco packing his heftiest punch yet.

Check out the album's tracklist and the video for the new single "TV God" below.

In Standard Definition Track list:
01. Desires
02. TV God
03. Bird Of Prey
04. Nothing Ever Changes

06. Head Rush
07. Channel 7 (Pilot Season)
08. In Standard Definition
09. Good Looks
10. The Message

Watch: Art d'Ecco Reveals New Single "I’ll Never Give You Up"

British Columbia glam-rocker Art d'Ecco has revealed the video for new single "I’ll Never Give You Up".

The song is out today (Jan 16) through Paper Bag Records. Grab your copy here.

“Sonically it’s another ode to the early ’80s,” he shares, “tracked with analogue synths and live drumming (courtesy of Jeff Mitchelmore from Gold & Youth), we recorded with producer Colin Stewart at his Hive Studios last summer.” It’s a beat-heavy track as reminiscent of The Human League as it is of contemporaries Drab Majesty, marked by ambiguously nostalgic lyrics. “I honestly can’t remember what it’s about lyrically—a ghost from the past? The pursuit of times that were, or could have been?”

The video was directed by Kira Clavell. Check out below.

Art d'Ecco Announces New LP 'Trespasser', Airs "Never Tell" New Video

British Columbia glam-rocker Art d'Ecco has announced the release of his new album titled 'Trespasser'.

The record will be out in October 12th through Paper Bag Records. Pre-order your copy here.

The Gulf Islands of the Pacific Northwest are an enigma. The islands jut up through the brisk waters of the Pacific Ocean, and just as the likes of Vancouver and Seattle exist at the intersection of opulences both natural and manmade, the islands host multitudes in their lush, hushed red cedar and Doug Fir skyscrapers. Art d'Ecco is one such multitude: an unapologetic, inclusive rock and roll mystic in a wig and lipstick.

When d'Ecco moved into his grandmother's cottage on one of the islands, he hadn't planned on creating a new project. But, as it often does, circumstance charted his course. His grandmother, living with Alzheimer's, suffered a related phenomenon called 'sundowning,' which triggers increased agitation and anxiety around sunset. "The only way to calm this lady down was to sit down at the piano," says d'Ecco. He would play "Bohemian Rhapsody," passing it off as Beethoven. After she was relocated, d'Ecco remained in the empty house where he had played as a child. Draped in memory, he gravitated toward the piano, spending the long, lonesome, quiet nights on the bench before the instrument. This is where Art d'Ecco was created.

The record, is a product of those islands, where he wrote and prepared the album in a cottage. It was in these woods, shrouded in fog rolling off the ocean and surrounded by deer, rabbits, and a reclusive neighbour, that Art d’Ecco found not just the clarity of stillness, but the loneliness and isolation of it. These he has distilled into a record of mystery, fluidity, and neon glam-rock stomp.

Check out the tracklist and the video for the new single "Never Tell" below.

Track Listing:
01. Never Tell
02. Joy
03. Mary
04. Nobody's Home
05. Who Is It Now?
06. Dark Days (revisited)
07. trespasser
08. Lady Next Door
09. Last In Line
10. The Hunted

“We wanted to make it look old school and to do that we played around with different filters and vintage lenses,” says cinematographer Wai Sun Cheng of the new video. “The colour theme was mostly chosen based on 80s poster art. d’Ecco brought a bunch of vintage instruments he used on the recording to the shoot and that really adds to the overall look of the video.”
