Black Nite Crash Unveil New Single/Video "Sugarwave"

Seattle garage pop/psych band Black Nite Crash have unveiled the video for their brand new single "Sugarwave".

The song "a driving, melodic take on indie-rock influenced post-punk," is taken from the EP 'Washed in the Sound with Black Nite Crash', set to be released on October 14th. Pre-order your copy here.

“The lyrics started out as scenes from a dream wherein my husband pulled some rather out-of-character capers,” Claire Tucker explains. “It got me thinking about dreams he’s told me about, where I did strange or terrible things, and what that might mean about our perception of each other — and even whether there was some hidden truth to the dreams. The song eventually developed into an impression of the gap between people’s true internal selves and how everyone else perceives us, and the attempt to bridge that gap, impossible as it may be. But the desire to be known can be at odds with the allure of likes and compliments and approvals and little dopamine hits — and that’s the Sugarwave.”

"The energy of the song is undeniable - we can't keep still while playing it. We haven't done anything quite like it in a while. It's another piece on the new record that feels, for us, like a bit of a departure from the last few albums. We've been trying to let the songs just come and guide us rather than trying to force things to sound like some preconceived notion of what the band should sound like".

Candy Coffins Share New Single "Seaside Girls"

South Carolina-based post-punk/indie rock outfit Candy Coffins have shared their new single "Seaside Girls".

The song is taken from their forthcoming new album 'Once Do It With Feeling', set to be released on  October 21. Pre-order your copy here.

“Once Do It With Feeling” chronicles a relationship from the onset of the first crack to its complete crumbling dissolution. All the feelings and emotions of tumult are captured here, from both persons’ perspectives. The record showcases the mature strides the songwriting has made and relates these themes via the vehicle of the band in its confident, cohesive current form.

Emotionally and sonically saturated, their music boasts Cure-esque textures and melody, as well as the thematic elements and visceral delivery of The Afghan Whigs.

Speaking about he single, frontman-songwriter Jame Lathrensays: "When the pandemic hit, I decided I would not write a dark song as the first one written during the period. It seemed too easy given the times. It took me three months, but we got 'Seaside Girls' from the effort, which is an upbeat sun-drenched rocker on the new album, 'Once Do It With Feeling.' It’s all the rage."

Dream Dali Air Music Video For "Wicked Sunday"

Brisbane dark wave/psych band Dream Dali have aired the video for their latest single "Wicked Sunday".

The song is part of our current playlist and came out last month (August 5). Grab it here.

This track further bolsters Dream Dali's mission to immerse listeners in their conceptual multi-sensory surrealist world of cinematic alt-dance-rock. 'Wicked Sunday' is abuzz with crunchy synths, a drama-filled dance-rock drum beat, and satisfying electric guitar atmospheres that are unashamedly 80s. The icing on the top of this cosmic cake is the song's evocative lyrics, delivered in lead singer Aldous Emerson's signature dreamy style.

Alluring and hypnotic, this is a superbly catchy tune that will have listeners dancing and shaking it all off. It's a dance-inducing triumph over heavy feelings and disappointment, as Emerson explains:

"Wicked Sunday is written about those times when you wake to a huge weight of the day. Exploring depression and trying to build yourself back up when you feel people have let you down."
