Watch: Austra Release New Video For "Painful Like"

Canadian wave pop band Austra have released the music video for "Painful Like", another cut taken from their recently released sophomore album 'Olympia', out via Domino. The song is part of our current playlist www.koolrockradio.com.

About the video, frontwoman Katie Stelmanis says: "The main influence was 90’s sci-fi movies like The Ninja Turtles, Super Mario Bros and Garbage Pail Kids where all the visual effects are done by hand and look really gross. We asked Exploding Motor Car to make the video cos they specialise in hand-made effects and puppet-making. ‘Painful Like’ is a song about living life in the sidelines.".

Watch the video directed by Exploding Motor Car below.

The response was accompanied with the picture you can see on the right, and as the band later explained: “the structure burning in the band photo is the Montreal Biosphere, which incidentally caught fire on May 20th, 1976.”

According to reports, for this new album, the band is working with longtime friend DFA-label chief and former head of LCD Soundsystem's James Murphy
