Led Zeppelin Announced Expanded 'BBC Sessions'

Legendary British rock group Led Zeppelin are set to expand their 'BBC Sessions' compilation for a new re-issue called THE COMPLETE BBC SESSIONS.

Nearly 20 years ago, Led Zeppelin introduced BBC SESSIONS, an acclaimed two-disc set of live recordings selected from the band¹s appearances on BBC radio between 1969 and 1971.

The compilation will be out on September 26, newly remastered (supervised by Jimmy Page), and expanded with eight unreleased BBC recordings, including three rescued from a previously lost session from 1969. Pre-order here

Jimmy Page recently spoke to Guitar World about the impact those sessions had on the band: “The BBC Sessions show in graphic detail just how organic the group was. New Entry: Led Zeppelin Air Previously Unreleased Song "Sugar Mama (Mix)"

British rock legends Led Zeppelin have aired an excellent new version of their previously unreleased song "Sugar Mama".

Their extensive reissue campaign with PRESENCE, IN THROUGH THE OUT DOOR and CODA will be released on July 31st.

The appropriately titled Coda was Led Zeppelin’s final album of studio recordings. Released in 1982, it was comprised of eight unreleased tracks recorded between 1970 and 1978. It peaked at #6 on the album charts and has been certified platinum in the U.S.

The reissue campaign ends with a double-barrel blast of Led. Coda will be the only Led Zeppelin deluxe edition to include two companion discs, featuring 15 tracks recorded between 1968 and 1974. The oldest song in the collection is also perhaps the most interesting. The frenetic blues jam “Sugar Mama” was recorded in 1968 at Olympic Studios during sessions for the band’s eponymous debut. The song was completed but never officially released until now. “Baby Come On Home” from the same session is also included in the set. Also included is the previously unreleased “St. Tristan’s Sword,” a rollicking instrumental recorded during the Led Zeppelin III sessions in 1970.

Led Zeppelin Unviel New Video For "Whole Lotta Love (Rough Mix With Vocal)"

British rock legends Led Zeppelin have unveiled a new video for the Rough Mix With Vocal of their classic track "Whole Lotta Love".

The remix is taken from from the companion audio of Led Zeppelin II (Deluxe Edition), which is part of the first three albums the band will re-issue on June 3rd. Pre-order the edition of your preference here.

About the alternate version of the song, Jimmy Page said: "This version of ‘Whole Lotta Love’ is the mix down from the night that we recorded it, so it doesn’t have any of the overdubs that everyone will be familiar with, because when they hear this they’ll think, ‘Oh yeah, that’s the original’ and all of a sudden they’ll go ‘No, it’s not.’"

Robert Plant added: "You can see how songs grow. There must have been five or six other takes of that, which are not present. So the shaping of these things is very interesting and you can hear with this particular version that we haven’t quite reached the point yet, and that it’s very, very close."

The video features a number of live recordings of the track. Check out below.
