Los Angeles based post-disco/dance-punk duo De Lux have unleashed their new single "Belong To You".
The song is taken from their fourth studio album ‘Do You Need A Release?’, out today Sept 23rd via via Innovative Leisure. Get your copy here.
Do You Need A Release? Is De Lux at their poppiest, their prettiest, danciest, but also their most abrasive. The record is built on an uncomfortable bed of tension which when released is immediately satisfying in unpredictable and surprising ways. The verses often pummel you with aggressive beats and grooves only to blossom into open, encouraging, and even angelic refrains.
Los Angeles based post-disco/dance-punk duo De Lux have released their new single "They Call This Love".

Sean Guerin had this to say on it: "As a lover of music and skateboarding, I thought They Call This Love would be a great song to mesh the two worlds. I've picked up skating again for the past 2 years and have met incredible people. Grabbed some of them for a session in downtown LA, as well as a bunch of high schools and notable spots. Skateboarding is so community based that it felt good to just go out with everyone and have an adventure. The song is about love, the ups and downs, the good and bad, and the hard work it requires. Landing a trick after 40 tries in 90-degree heat only to have all your buds there to cheer you on, I think represents love in so many ways."

Founding members Sean Guerin and Isaac Franco invited their live band to record to tape at Jonny Bell’s Jazzcat Studio in Long Beach, CA. While De Lux has always been able to write immediately danceable and quirky pop songs with a strong dose of wit, these recordings get the sonic boost they deserve to match the quality and camaraderie of their intense and acclaimed live performances.
Sean says that the record is filled with questions and not answers, but each riddle is its own answer as pseudo philosophical as that can sound… His lyrics are at once filled with uncertainty and affirmation. The irony is that the grooves are as solid as they’ve ever been and the band is pushing themselves harder than they ever have. Striving to make something danceable and beautiful and important. De Lux matters because they make music to dance to and be inspired by—they exist to ask us the questions we’re often too afraid to move our bodies to. That may sound hyperbolic but their ambitions are not an exaggeration.

After writing, performing, recording, and producing three albums themselves, they’ve traded their typically hermetic recording process at their Burbank studio for a more collaborative experience. This time Sean and Isaac invited the members of their live band to record to tape at Jonny Bell’s Jazzcat Studio in Long Beach, CA. While De Lux has always been able to write immediately danceable and quirky pop songs with a strong dose of wit, these recordings get the sonic boost they deserve to match the quality and camaraderie of their intense and acclaimed live performances.
Los Angeles based post-disco, dance-punk duo De Lux have dropped their new single "Some Things Never Break".
The song is taken from their upcoming EP 'Uneven', set to arrive on April 23 via Innovative Leisure. Pre-order it here.
"Something’s Never Break" is about old habits dying hard. The lyrics tow the line between earnestness and irony throughout the song, making you wonder if they’re sung with a wink or a nod. The band’s special brand of cheeky social commentary rewards the listener with some of their best one liners: “I hope one day/I can make enough money/So I can have an opinion/And I don't have to fake it.”
It’s got a trance inducing off kilter synth intro and guitars that sound like they’re melting in slow motion as Sean Guerin puts on a character that sounds like an extension of the sort of musical theatre he performed in past songs like "Oh Man the Future" and "Music Snob." While his character can’t seem to change his life, the song might change yours.
Los Angeles based post-disco, dance-punk duo De Lux have dropped their catchy new single "Dancing Is Dangerous In Los Angeles".
From the duo: "Right before the shutdown was announced in LA because of COVID-19, a bit before social distancing became mainstream and bars were still open, I went out dancing. There were about 10 people. It felt pretty eerie, especially for a spot so heavily crowded usually. So during quarantine stuck in a studio, decided to write 'Dancing Is Dangerous In Los Angeles', which was inspired by that experience."

Los Angeles based post-disco, dance-punk duo De Lux have unveiled their new single "Cool Up".
From the duo: "Cool Up was written during our album 'Voyage', we were probably 22 or 23 at the time. Didn't make the record because we knew that 6 or 7 years down the line, it would be a good B Side to release. It's about being cool and taking action, whatever that means to you and not anyone else. We've only played it live twice for our first few shows."
