'Tides End', the follow-up to their 2011's By The Hedges, was written after the band's frontman and songwriter Sonny Kilfoyle moved out of New York to Long Island after a bout of writer's block, and is named after an estate by the beach that Sonny came across during writing sessions.
When Kilfoyle came back to the city, he teamed up with recent Berlin transplant Mark Verbos at the producer/engineer's New York studio by the Brooklyn side of the Williamsburg Bridge.
"It was actually a very uninspiring and uncreative but it forced us to use our imagination and find new ways to work together," Kilfoyle said of the setting.
