Operators Announce New LP 'Radiant Dawn', Stream "Faithless"

Canadian synth-rock/post punk band Operators have announced the release of their sophomore album 'Radiant Dawn'.

The follow-up to 2016's debut album Blue Wave, was written and recorded throughout 2018 and early 2019 in Montreal and Vancouver Island. Arcade Fire’s Tim Kingsbury played bass on the album’s closing track. It will be out on May 17 via Last Gang Records and features their brand new single "Faithless". Pre-order your copy here.

According to the press release, Radiant Dawn's nine tracks meld raw analog hardware with frontman Dan Boeckner's distinct voice to create an immersive cinematic sound. Interspersed between the tracks are instrumental inter-titles that amplify the album’s 1970s sci-fi dystopian feel.

For fans of Boeckner’s catalogue (Wolf Parade, Handsome Furs, Divinite Fits) Radiant Dawn feels like the next logical step in the artist’s two decade career, while maintaining a completely fresh energy.

New Entry: Destroyer Reveals New Song "Cover From The Sun"

Canadian singer/songwriter Dan Bejar aka Destroyer has revealed his catchy new song “Cover From The Sun”.

The song is taken from the band's forthcoming album 'ken', sert to arrive next Friday (October 20) via Merge. Pre-order it here.

Ken's title was inspired by the Suede single "The Wild Ones" (from 1994's Dog Man Star). Bejar had this to say about the album, and the Suede connection, in a previous press release: "Sometime last year, I discovered that the original name for 'The Wild Ones' (one of the great English-language ballads of the last 100 years or so) was 'Ken.' I had an epiphany, I was physically struck by this information. In an attempt to hold on to this feeling, I decided to lift the original title of that song and use it for my own purposes. It's unclear to me what that purpose is, or what the connection is. I was not thinking about Suede when making this record. I was thinking about the last few years of the Thatcher era. Those were the years when music first really came at me like a sickness, I had it bad. Maybe 'The Wild Ones' speaks to that feeling, probably why Suede made no sense in America. I think 'ken' also means 'to know.'"
