New Entry: Pale Blue Eyes Unveil New Single "Star Vehicle"

Totnes, UK indie pop/indie rock band Pale Blue Eyes have unveiled their new single "Star Vehicle".

The song is taken from their highly-anticipated debut album 'Souvenirs', which will be out on September 2 through Full Time Hobby. Pre-order your copy here.

“It’s a hopeful and uplifting track,” says PBE singer/guitarist Matt Board. “It’s about daydreaming of the future and riding out difficult times together – kind of fantasizing about somewhere far away. It touches on times at art college, where there was a student bar called The Rat & Emu, out in the middle of the countryside. I remember the stars seemed so bright overhead.”

Pale Blue Eyes Announce Debut LP 'Souvenirs', Stream "Globe"

Totnes, UK indie pop/indie rock band Pale Blue Eyes have announced the release of their highly-anticipated debut album 'Souvenirs'.

The 10-track record was mixed and mastered by ex-Add N To (X) man Dean Honer, and bears those influences out, a surging, sophisticated mix of synth-tinged indie-rock touching on greats like Echo & The Bunnymen and Cocteau Twins, it will be out on September 2 through Full Time Hobby. Pre-order your copy here.

The core of Souvenirs was written and recorded by Sheffield’s Lucy Board and South Devon’s Matt Board. Matt and Lucy were married in 2018, years after meeting at art college.

“When we were younger,” says Lucy, “we recorded at various studios – from makeshift DIY places in Sheffield and Plymouth to residential studios like Rockfield in Wales. Rockfield was like heaven to us, but it was somewhere we could only afford for a couple of days. Our dream was to have more studio time, to develop songs without being 'on the clock', and to learn how to produce ourselves.”

New Entry: Pale Blue Eyes Unveil New Single "TV Flicker"

Totnes, UK indie pop/indie rock band Pale Blue Eyes have unveiled their new single "TV Flicker".

The song is out today (November 30) through Full Time Hobby. Get it here.

Speaking about it, drummer Lucy Board says: “It does feel full of ghostly traces – feelings and recollections from the time of a sudden family bereavement, a snapshot into an anxiety-fuelled head-space and not being able to switch off your thoughts, blankly staring at the TV.”

Recorded at their own studio Penquit Mill, south of Dartmoor, the song is light on the surface, but carries a dark resonance underneath.

Singer-guitarist Matt Board explains... "At the time of my dad’s death I’d sometimes fall asleep in front of a flickering TV. It was calming to drift off to sound or background dialogue and it helped me sleep. The music and lyrics in 'TV Flicker' also maybe conjure ambiguous images of 1970s Cold War décor – post-apocalyptic hideouts, a hatch leading into a lost nuclear bunker."
