London art pop/alt band Media Giant have shared their debut single "Afraid of the Dark".
The song, written and produced by the trio, harks back to the golden age of new wave: fusing punk elements with funk rhythms, it's an immediate statement of intent that will hit home for fans of Bowie, Talking Heads and The Rapture. It is out now through Brace Yourself Records, get it here.
A statement from Media Giant HQ reads simply: "At Media Giant, we care about you - that’s why we’ve used extensive market research and scientific analysis to determine what makes a hit. 'Afraid of the Dark' is our initial offering, and our studies suggest you will enjoy it’s driving, danceable rhythm and relatable lyrical content."
Struck through with playful experimentation, quirky insouciance and a deft touch of consumerist satire - all the while never letting its eye off the hook-driven prize - 'Afraid of the Dark' is a mesmerising debut and one not to be slept on.
