Brooklyn, NY nuke wave band Monograms (lead by by multi-instrumentalist Ian Jacobs) have unleashed their new single "Don't Fight For It".
The song is taken from their upcoming debut album ‘Living Wire’, set to arrive on September 20 via PaperCup Music
The music of Monograms is eclectic by design; mosaic pallets that use Jacobs’ vocals, melodic threads and lucid rhythms to hold it together. The foundation of pop-song structures wrapped in new-wave tones and angular riffs, point the band’s approach at previous decades and the heyday of alternative college radio, as well as contemporary DIY vibes that pull from similar genres. Monograms is Brooklyn’s Nuke Wave.
"'Don't Fight For It' is inspired by some of the 80s-era music I grew up on, a time when the radio air waves were filled with some really incredible music," explains Jacobs. "[It was] a really positive time for popular music of substance but also an era that gave way to musicians creating their own independent voices, with the musical movements in Manchester and early DIY college radio."
