The video was directed by Dave Merson Hess who explained: “Earlier this year, at the Barracuda in Austin, I finally got to see APTBS live. They sounded massive, with chaotic bursts of feedback, thumping overdriven bass, glitched out drums, and surprisingly pretty harmonies.
With the video for "Look Me In The Eye", I wanted to use abstract animation to approximate that sound, visually. Experimental animator Robert Breer described the effect of watching his films as “assault and battery on the retina”. That became my guiding principle.
