Hot Garbage Announce Debut LP 'RIDE', Stream "Sometimes I Go Down"

Toronto psych-rock/post-rock/krautrock quartet Hot Garbage have announced the release of their debut studio album 'RIDE'.

The 9-track album was produced by Graham Walsh (from Canadian electronica band Holy Fuck) and will be available on October 29th through Mothland. Pre-order your copy here.

Drawing on the sounds of Sonic Youth and contemporaries such as Wand, L.A. Witch and Kikagaku Moyo, "Sometimes I Go Down" arrives as the opening track from RIDE setting the tone for the rest of the record with a motorik rhythm section with deep organ drones and dual vocals resonating throughout alongside fuzzy guitars. Speaking about the single, guitarist/lead vocalist, Alex Carlevaris says: "It’s okay to feel down sometimes and need space. We as people have to accept that, allow that and have a healthy and realistic idea about having shitty days, feeling like shit and still loving ourselves. Also recognizing that others around us may need it and being patient with people."

RIDE effectively mends core elements of 60s and 70s psych music, post-punk and desert rock with otherworldly textures, sometimes in a vaporous way, other times with quaking soundwaves. Along its 33 minutes, the foursome takes the listener through a multitude of terrains where cinematic soundscapes await behind the initial haze of reverberations and fuzz-heavy riffs.
