Noon Garden Announce Debut LP 'Beulah Spa', Stream "Desiree"

Noon Garden, the psych-pop solo project of Flamingods member Charles Prest, has announced the release of his debut studio album 'Beulah Spa'.

The 10-track record was written and produced by Noon Garden and will be out on February 25th 2022 via The Liquid Label. Pre-order your copy here.

Noon Garden says of the album: "This debut was an experiment to get to know myself better. Taken from the name of an area not too far from my family home in Norwood south London, the literal words ‘Beulah Spa’ conjured up imagery of being a place to contemplate in warmth and complete tranquility. Writing music is a therapeutic process for me and it’s taken about eight years on and off to finish this album by myself, to try understand what it was exactly that I wanted to say lyrically and explore sonically.

The album’s lyrics have shape-shifted so much with time but they take a curious look at the human experience; in my case growing up and soaking up a lot of cultures from an early age in the Middle East, the UK and briefly in Singapore. It’s a reflection on what’s past and what’s yet to come, my connection with others over the years and how that inevitably shapes your outlook on what’s around you. All of this told through the lens of psychedelia which has always given me a sense of possibility. Beulah Spa is the first marker of where I’ve gotten to so far in my life, channeling it all into a musical odyssey that lays the foundation for a lot more to come.”

Watch: Noon Garden Reveals New Single/Video "Decca Divine"

Noon Garden, the solo project of Flamingods member Charles Prest, has released the video for their new single "Decca Divine".

The song "a love letter to all the vibrant African disco and funk of the 70s and 80s", is out today (April 28) and is the lead single from his forthcoming debut album due out November 2021 via The Liquid Label. Get it here.

Noon Garden says of the single: "Sonically this is the most I’ve ever drawn on my African heritage and love for African music. I was obsessed with Charly Kingson’s track ‘Nimele Bolo’ for a time which has such an infectious, repetitive bass line and groove that I wanted to explore something similar myself. Musicians like Nigerian funk master William Onyeabor influenced all the bright synth work and I even named the song after a popular recording studio in Lagos called Decca Studios where a lot of my favourite African artists like the Lijadu Sisters, Obenezer Obey and King Sunny Ade recorded albums. Lyrically it’s a celebration of ambition and determination and a call to exorcise one's self-doubt"

About the track the band said: "Chili Town was born in a friday afternoon. While drinking sangria we realized that if our songs were battles, we'll always end up being the injured soldier. Then we were like "fuck it dude, why are we always the weak one in our lyrics??? what's wrong with us???"
so yeaaaaahhh we made it! we wrote a winner song! ...right?"

The song will be released via Lucky Number music in Europe and Mom and Pop in the US, and will feature on their debut album.

This month's BOTM on Kool Rock Radio is Winchester/London based four-piece BLOOM.

UPDATE July 27: The band has changed their named to HOME CLOUDS.

Comprised by Jimmie Westwood (Vocals/ Guitar & Synth), Ashwin Singh (Lead Guitar), Dem Gerolemou (Bass/Guitar), and Will Allen (Drums), they have cited WU LYF, DIIV, Flashguns, Peace, Foals, JAWS, Swim Deep, Splashh, Tame Impala, Yeasayer as some of their major influences.

Their brilliant debut single "Daydream", is a gentle strain of guitar pop, with slices of baggy sounds and a cool summery feeling. It's definitely a band to keep an eye on.

The band are currently working on new material, and have just unveiled their brand new catchy tune "In The Past", a perfect B-side for "Daydream". Buy the single here.

Watch: Eastern Hollows Unveil Music Video For New Single "Summer's Dead"

Brooklyn based Britpop, shoegaze, psych pop quintet Eastern Hollows have unveiled the official video for their new single "Summer's Dead".

The single, pressed onto very limited heavy transparent blue 7" vinyl, is backed with "The Collector", and will be out on May 5th via Club AC30. It is taken from their forthcoming eponymous debut album.  

Directed by Julian Kauffmann, the clip features the band performing the song on a rooftop, while a stranger drops some coloured roses across the city. The roses will reach a very very big size, leading to some spectacular results.

Yuko Yuko (aka Elias Elgersma) has released a new video for his emotional track "Crying in the Discotheque".

The song is the second single taken from his recent EP Cultlove, released on January 30 via via RVRB Music. Get your copy here. 

According to Elgersma "it's meant for nasolacrimal discodrooling on the dancefloor."

The VHS tape-style clip, features Elgersma and Marrit "acting like real progressive popstars in front of a blue screen,"
