New Entry: Nixer Premiere New Single "Decisions"

Irish electronic/dance/new wave duo Nixer (aka Seán Keenan and Gearóid Peggs) have premiered their addictive new single "Decisions".

The song is taken from their forthcoming debut EP 'People Feel', set to arrive on May 27th via Blowtorch Records.

UPDATE 19/04/2022: "Decisions" is out new Single of the Week!

The unique sound of Nixer–built on elements of electronic dance and new wave influences–is in part the result of two contrasting musical backgrounds fusing together to spark a new sound. Peggs comes from an electronic production background and the sound of artists like Boy Harsher and Boys Noize, bringing those infectious electronic dance shuffles, synths and 808’s to the Nixer sound. On the other side of the coin, Keenan draws influence from the sonic worlds of artists like Alex G, King Krule, Fontaines D.C. and The Stone Roses, pairing his melodic guitar lines and distinctive vocals with Pegg's skilled production to create this unique and utterly gripping brand of alternative dance music.

Launder Announces Debut LP 'Happening', Shares Two New Songs

L.A dream pop/shoegaze musician John Cudlip aka Launder has announced the release of his debut full-length album 'Happening'.

After nearly three years and sixty demos, Launder's full-length debut is happening, it will be out on July 15 through Ghostly International, featuring new singles "Chipper" and "Unwound". Get your copy here.

John Cudlip signed to Ghostly to build his recording project, developed out of casual sessions with friends Jackson Phillips (Day Wave), Soko, and Zachary Cole Smith (DIIV).

With live shows paused in 2020, he immersed fully into writing and arranging an overflow of ideas. Cudlip also embraced sobriety, redirecting his once-destructive addictive tendencies into studio craft — all his thoughts consumed by melody and texture, all his resources lobbed into gear, every buzz, hiss, and hum of this record became his entire world. The resulting set sprawls across a double LP release; it's a considered beast of a debut and he's proud of it, living with it, finally. Through its thirteen songs, Happening is timeless, grappling with something bigger than just melody, the cathartic and the tender, indebted to indie rock greats while informed by modern and prudent self-reflection.

DESIRE Announce New LP 'Escape', Stream "Telling Me Lies"

Palm Springs-via-Montreal electronic/synthpop duo Desire (aka Megan Louise and Johnny Jewel) have announced the release of their new full-length album 'Escape'.

The 13-track record, their first in nine years, was written & produced by Johnny Jewel in Los Angeles and Palm Springs, CA and  mixed by Vaughn Oliver, it will be out on May 3 via Italians Do It Better featuring the previously shared singles ‘Black Latex’, ‘Zeros’, and the title track. Grab it here.

Escape was inspired by the ominous, vivid aura of 1970s giallo films (think Dario Argento’s masterpieces Suspiria and Deep Red). Almost as if they were soundtracking a campy slasher of their own, the band’s Megan Louise and Johnny Jewel used an array of electronic instruments on Escape, including a Minikorg, Jupiter 8, 909, Mellotron, Simmons Rhythm Modules, String Machine, a D-50, and Fender Rhodes. Implementing girl group melodies, children’s choirs, and Louise’s trilingual lyrics, Escape is a project that only Desire could make.

Tallies Announce New LP 'Patina', Stream "Hearts Underground"

The new record arrives as a true labor of love, one that was delayed due to the pandemic but ultimately is a truly rewarding collection for the band. It pricked the ears Cocteau Twins' Simon Raymonde – a hero of the band – who signed Tallies to his Bella Union label, providing "a light at the end of a dark tunnel" according to Sarah Cogan of the band.

Watch: Interpol Share New Single/Video "Something Changed"

New York indie rock/alt band Interpol have shared the video for their new single "Something Changed".

The song is taken from their forthcoming seventh studio album 'The Other Side of Make-Believe', which will come out on July 15 via Matador Records. Pre-order your copy here.

“Something Changed” is a relatively spare and muted track, and it features a whole lot of tense piano-plinking. The song’s video is the second part of a two-part series that started with “Toni.” Where “Toni” was more of a musical fight-sequence number, “Something Changed” is moodier. Van Alpert once again directs, and the clip follows a very naked young couple on the run from Paul Banks’ cop.

Vocalist and guitarist Paul Banks explains: “In Something Changed, part two of our short film with Van Alpert, reality and reverie converge and our two lead characters find themselves in a kind of dream state – being pursued inexorably by an ominous figure (played by myself.) The lives of the three are intertwined in a nebula of fear, retribution, desire, and defiance. Who will receive their just deserts? Stay tuned and find out!!!”
