She's In Parties Release New Single/Video "Cherish"

Essex-based dreampop/shoegaze band She's In Parties have released the video for their dreamy new single "Cherish".

Speaking about ‘Cherish’, frontperson Katie Dillon explains:

“At the time ‘Cherish’ was written I was going through some weird times in my relationship, I was never good at communicating my feelings and so things would just build up, at the same time though, neither was he. We were young going into it, not that it was a bad thing, but we were growing up together and learning so much about ourselves and each other. 

What I write in this song mainly suggests to myself, at the time, to cherish the love that we have for each other because ultimately there was too much love and memories and history there to just let it 

all go. 

I hope people will feel uplifted when listening to this song. Cherish the love always because someday that person might go away".

Seasurfer Drop New/Single "jump to the stars feat. Ricardo Silva Veloso"

Hamburg noise pop/dream punk/shoegaze band Seasurfer have dropped the video for the new single "Jump to the Stars" featuring Portuguese producer and songwriter Ricardo Silva Veloso.

“The song connects the heritage of post-punk with the present, and the sonic symbiosis is, in my opinion, just perfect,” says Veloso. “The dynamic between different people with different opinions is the theme presented in the lyrics; it describes a perspective one should have about the world and the way it evolved to the standards we’re living in now.”

“I enjoy working with different singers, getting inspiration, and being in touch with new and international musicians,” says Knight. ‘This is an engine for the creative process, and also makes sure that I don’t stand still and get bored with myself. Ricardo sings totally relaxed and cool, and he fits so well!”.

THE CITY GATES Air New Single "Hanged Drawn and Quartered"

Montreal post punk/shoegaze band The City Gates have aired their new single "Hanged Drawn and Quartered".

The City Gates bass player and vocals’ Jean-Sébastien says about the song: “I got the idea for that title as I was reading an article on the very worst execution methods and it just stuck there somewhere in my memory.” Hanged Drawn and Quartered song lyrics is about “The most horrible way to execute someone definitely was to hang, draw and quarter the poor soul. As the name implies, you choke, stretch, gut and dismember the culprit in front of a live audience.”

 

“The melody came to me in the shower. I don’t know why, but melodies always seem to appear by magic once I’m in there! Anyway, I jumped out of the bathroom, ran into my home studio and laid the basics tracks for the song in an hour or so. The lyrics reflect the twisted ways we torture ourselves with daily drama and unresolved issues and the suffering it brings.”

To promote their 'Age of Resilience' album, released in June 2021 the band will embark on a European tour from October 6 to October 11, includes shows with Golden Apes, She Pleasures HerSelf, Days of Sorrow, and more.

Cruush Unveil New Single/Video "false start"

Manchester indie/alt/shoegaze band Cruush have unveiled the video for their new single "false start".

Harbouring echoes of shoegaze bands such as Slowdive, it's a breath of fresh air within Manchester's typical indie scene.

Band member Amber Warren says: “I guess you can say our music has the sweet elements of having a crush on someone but the screeching of an industrial car crusher… Sonically the track reflects everything falling apart around you in a country where anxiety and disillusion are escalating, and there seems to be a complete lack of compassion and thought. That constant 5/4 guitar starting the track off and running in the background throughout as the rest of the song plays in 4/4 mirrors the sense of things not seeming right that you can’t shake out your head. This also lends the track its name ‘False Start’ as the drums don’t drop in where you’d expect."

“Lyrically the track discusses clinging onto something toxic and finding it hard to let go of the situation. The situation sometimes makes you question and dismiss your gut feeling. You know it’s not good, but continue with it.”

Virgins Release New Single/Video "Signalling"

Belfast shoegaze duo Virgins have released the video for their new single "Signalling".

The song is taken from their upcoming debut EP ‘Transmit A Little Heaven’, which will be released by Blowtorch Records on October 14th.

Opening with swathes of choral shimmering reverb and an ethereal haunting vocal, this initial dreamy intro gives way to a grungier riff that wouldn’t be out of place on any 90’s Sub Pop record. Virgins alchemy comes in marrying these juxtaposing elements together to create a sound that in equal parts wraps you in clouds of ambient washed out reverbs while simultaneously keeping your head nodding along with fuzzed out guitars and hammering drums. 

Lyrically ‘Signalling’ is a wanton cry for more, of trying to fill an unending void and the frustrations found within that insatiable desire. This coupled with the impending inevitability that there is a permanent and definitive end for everything and the knowledge that this will come unsatiated. This against a layered back drop of dense and beautiful guitars that are drenched in fuzz and reverbs, dovetailing between creating a dense melting wall of sound to beautiful shimmering passages. The vocals are a whisper in your ear from a long forgotten ghost laden with regret, melancholia and a desire to return to a more innocent time.
